July 14, 20204 yr Aurora farms is a shell of what it once was. Half the original buildings are "condemmed" and leaking water out of the eves and walls as you walk past, making the stink you used to get from the buildings on Euclid
July 14, 20204 yr Not to get too far off track, but here was the original proposal from Simon to rehab the "lake" side of Aurora Farms reported on back in December 2018. I wonder if this is still on the table at this point: https://www.record-courier.com/news/20181210/reconstruction-renovations-planned-at-aurora-farms Edited July 14, 20204 yr by SgtBarone
July 15, 20204 yr the render is pretty much what you would expect. its alright. the open corner outdoor area is a great idea, but having the whole lengthy walkway open to the elements, or at least partly open, i think??? is a mistake. it ain't florida, it needs to be enclosed. i still think its a good idea as long as it doesn't affect any possible re-jiggering of the shoreway or the rail right of way, but good luck to them in this retail environment. edit -- as these types of malls are kind of standard looking and can be an eyesore, for a sort of a comparison view here is what the bronx terminal mall by yankee stadium looks like from the major deegan. its almost right up next to the elevated highway there. so pretty much the backend of the mall, although there really isnt much of a frontend view either lol. from the render i think this cle outlet mall will look a bit more inviting from the road. I get that but at the same time there is almost an expectation that outlet malls are more exposed to the elements. Without the exposed outdoors environment, it just feels more like a regular nall. There are lots of outlet malls that are a decent amount north of Cleveland that do just fine! Just think locally outdoor Crocker Park does better than essentially all other surrounding indoor malls near it so I don't think being outdoors is that huge of a detraction. Plus, the way it is angled there should be much wind from the lake giving that awful chill.
