Hey everyone, just wanted to announce a secret lil project I've been working on the past three months, which hopefully explains why I haven't made as many renderings as of late:   I've alway

-Whatever happened to that Courthouse Plaza office/condo tower?  I know it said that it was pending/maybe, but has it been scrapped, or are they still waiting for financing? I also read that they were looking at possibly putting it in the county parking lot on W. Lakeside.

-Ditto for the District Park condos on W.9th/10th...with the unexpected rise in materials cost, has that also been scrapped?

Thanks for info...I'm sure it's within the 51 pages in this thread, but I guess I'm too lazy to read 51 pages!

you could start by doing a search on the forum or looking in the Abandoned Projects Section.

I am SOO grateful May Day! :-)  In all seriousness it's beautiful I have never seen it look like that in my lifetime...which is quite a bit of time lol  WOW

Is that all gold? Yowsa is right LOL

Dammit that buiding is beautiful!!  As a Clevelander my whole life, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has to smile when I see the progress on that building!!  It just brings a smile to your face when you see how beautiful the restoration is.  The night lighting of just that section is gorgeous as well.

I have to add that it would be great for the whole tower to look like the upper floors.  However, that restoration process would take years to complete, considering Forest City has a five year timeline for just the restoration of the upper 18 floors.

i think i heard somewhere that restoration was coming at a price tag of close to 40m. can anyone confirm that? I may be delusional.

^ Dunno about that, but an application was submitted for an Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit for Terminal Tower, with an estimated rehabilitation expense of $26.7 million. Not sure if this is to support the existing rehabilitation work or another rehabilitation project within the complex. Either way, obviously not cheap.

You probably already figured this out from a search, but District Park is officially dead and Courthouse Plaza has been silent for a long, long time (and website is now restricted) so is presumed dead.

^Just think how good it will look when it comes down sometime in 2085

It's like an infection!

A restorative infection.

You're right, I did use the search function - I'm new to the site and didn't think to use it - but thanks for the update.

The Courthouse Plaza always intrigued me - I liked the original rendering (funky glass box-40+ stories!) but wasn't a big fan of the second model.

Between the Progressive Tower, Ameritrust Center, the First Union Twin Towers, the World Trade Center, District Park, the Renaissance Annex, the Sherwin-Williams tower, and the Courthouse Plaza, even if 2 or 3 of those went through, what a difference it would make on the skyline...sigh...

No big deal. Every city has its high-rises that never happened.

^KJP, do you know of any renderings that are out there for the First Union Twin Towers?  I read of them on Emporis.com, but never could find any.  Two 40-story twin towers on Superior btw. W.3rd and W.6th would certainly have been a sight.

Yeah, well he was asking me. eviltongue.gif

But MayDay is right, I don't think I've ever seen renderings of the First Union towers.

Long story short - back in the day, emporis.com was known as skyscrapers.com. The "team" behind it asked me if I'd like to help them develop their Cleveland section. I said I'd help, because I'm such a nice guy. I added the most basic info but they wanted me to basically take all the work I did (information AND photos) for my site and hand it over to them - they also wanted me (and other section/city editors) to update our stuff every six weeks or we'd lose our access. I explained that Cleveland didn't really add new buildings every six weeks, and that I had no intentions of replicating all of my work on their site but they wouldn't hear it and rescinded my access out of spite. What they didn't do is remove the images (or credit them) that I had uploaded until I raised a little h#ll. Others have had problems with them as well - from what I went through to failure to pay for licensed photos. They're a shady operation to say the least (unfortunately there are good people who are caught up in their bullsh!t), and they don't respect the people who could have helped them the most.

and on the non schofield building front... It looks like they are getting closer at the Prospect Place apartments.  They had been hoisting material to various floors of the building through service windows in the rear of the building.  Earlier this week all the services windows were replaced with regualar windows.  This morning i saw someone cleaning all the windows on the 4th and 5th floors, and just noticed that now all the blinds are down.  They've also finished installing the marble walls in the lobby.  I had been told at one point that they were going to try to lease out 4 and 5 while they continued work on 2 and 3... looks like they should be able to move forward with that once the lobby is finished.  I just can't wait to see some lights on in this place and a little more life on prospect!

^While I was walking through the Halle Building alley, I could see up into the 4th or 5th floor and it looked like a model unit was painted and light fixtures were installed.  I really like this building.  Very simply detailed, no ornamentation.  Looks good, although I liked it when the building was blackened with soot pre renovation.

ha ha- I agree.  Sometimes I think owners are a little too quick to powerwash for purely cosmetic reasons.  Some buildings little terrible dirty, but I think brick looks pretty good like that.

these places if you haven't seen them are very cool.... for the right person.  They are very modern / industrial.  Cement floors, exposed brick walls, a lot of open lofts... some even have sliding steel doors.  I think they are much more "city living" than most spaces available downtown. I love them... my future wife does not share my love.

are you talking about Prospect Place?

^yup.

^who is the developer?

edit: Frangos

With this coming online, Osborn, the building on Huron, and Joshua Hall there are quite a few residential options in this part of the city.  Must be all the views of the Breuer Tower...

well well... i just checked and there is now a website

Love the project.  But man the text on that website is painful to read.

whoa, it's like, a visual metaphor for downtown living.

What's the problem, clearly they are promoting the Cleveland Foodies, our new Baseketball team, who play on a piano themed court.

Does anyone know what the price points are for Prospect Place? Didn't see anything on the site? If not, anyone planning on attending the grand opening?

I was told 800-1500 over the phone - I cannot make it for the Open House, but am going the following Saturday.

i thought it was like, $1.12 per sq ft? Or am I confusing projects?

I snapped a few pictures of Joshua Hall this evening.  It's been lit up at night for a few months now.  The first one is the Prospect facade, the second, Bolivar.  Brightens up the area nicely.

That is gorgeous W. 28th!!  Btw, I was in a car today as a passenger and got excited at a bldg near 30th and Prospect and the agent I was with didn't know I was snapping photos and sped off lol.  I have to go back tomorrow there is a beautiful green cast iron sign that identifies the bldg.  When I get that I will post the photo - its a gorgeous victorian brick building with green hues on the trim.  Joshua Hall looks even better at night than it does during the day now!

How many of the units at Joshua Hall have sold?

^ 3 of the 4

Is the first floor going to be retail?

^ no, it is going to be the new offices for the contractor who built the units... can't remember the name off the top of my head.

There are a few gorgeous Victorian buildings left along the north side Prospect in the 30s.

Thanks. Prospect has the chance to become a nice, yet sleepy residential street. I'd love to see some nice 4-story townhomes fill in some of those surface lots between 9th and 14th.

^ you and me both.

30K? 130K? 230K? Where is this btw?

^East 30th to East 40th.

I've always loved that stretch and there are a couple of nice apartment buildings with GINORUMOUS units on Euclid.  Historic Prospect is amazing!
