April 21, 201114 yr That's just the underlying aerial photograph. I always figured that the Society building (the 3D model) and the rest of Key Center was created as one big model so it showing up on it's own is a surprise.

It's a retail development of some sorts that from the posters outside the construction site sort of looks like Legacy Village albeit a much smaller scale. Anyone have information on this?

It's wonderful to see so many active projects moving forward in Cleveland and there is much cause to be optimistic. However, there's still a long way to go and, as an advocate for working toward change, I like to remind others to do more than just post on the forum whenever you can get involved. May 14, 201114 yr New Construction E.14/Carnegie I went to the Indians game tonite and I parked in one of those lots south of the Wolstein Center by E.14 and Carnegie. One of those old warehouses was torn down and there is a fenced-in construction site. Does anyone know if something is being built there or is this site a site for the innerbelt bridge construction materials?

May 23, 201114 yr ^The center street bridge has been closed since last July. Repairs were supposed to take about a year. Look for it to reopen sometime this summer. Although I don't see much work going on when I go by on evenings and weekends. Anyone have a sense of how much work is currently being done on site?

May 26, 201114 yr Alright guys, I got a (small) random development to announce - I just purchased this building on Cedar Road in Cleveland Heights right near Melt. I am going to replace the storefronts and gut the inside. There are two storefronts - one is about 1,000 sf the other is about 2,500 sf. I am having a "commercial garage sale" this weekend to get rid of the stuff that was left inside. I don't have tenants yet, so please let me know if you know of anyone looking for space in CH. I got an architect working on storefront renderings, just had a plumber fix the gas leak, and have some demo guys coming next weeks. I've also had some calls and a few tours. I get a lot of calls about nail and hair salons but I want something different. We have enough f'in salons in CH! Matt Fish is trying to get a tattoo shop in the neighborhood. I have had talked to a few prospects that would be awesome for the neighborhood, but nothing yet. We shall see, hopefully I can bring some cool tenants to the neighborhood! If anyone kwons any good tenants, let me know.

Man, come to think of it, I'm an idiot. I rented a fisheye lens a couple weeks ago and took some shots from terminal tower observation deck (pics coming, bad weather day, but got to go on outside deck) and my bro-in-laws new restaurant (SoHo on W 25th - only got some before shots since construction hasn't started), but never stopped in at my building for some good fisheye interior shots. The lens had some serous wide angle. I will take some regular ones before the demo anyways.

I know what you mean, but lighting the guardians is budgeted for - as a part of the Hope Memorial bridge improvements that are part of the bigger innerbelt bridge project.

June 7, 201114 yr Just a report from a walk around the block: -Work is ongoing at Dredger's Union. It looks nice inside, though still quite empty. I was a little disappointed they are using painted plywood for signage above the doors, covering up the (admittedly deteriorated) facade. -In between the Columbia and Stanley there are barricades with Coon Restoration tagged on them. http://www.coonrestoration.com/projects.html My guess is they will be doing the restoration work on the Stanley. -Sushi 86 has successfully opened at the Colonial Arcade. -It looks like the former Kent CUDC space above Winking Lizard has been leased, and they are doing work on the inside. -Despite what I thought were the indications that work might be restarting on the Schofield Building, it is still dead as a doornail.

June 14, 201114 yr The visual design was really good, but I recently attended a conference on arts and culture marketing, and one of the takeaways is how much more compelling stories about individuals can be than a series of hard numbers. This particular speaker argued that focusing exclusively on numbers tends to numb the audience, and interestingly, the larger numbers, the less relatable the information is and the less the audience feels a sense of caring. In reviewing this video, I can't help but think ... $6.8 billion ... That seems like a lot, but is it a lot compared to other cities? What is that opposite local economic output? And by the end I was just like, when will the numbers be over? Not to say you can't have hard stats ... I just wish GCP had humanized it more. What does $6.8 billion in development mean for the 20-something entrepreneur? For the school principal? For the municipal worker? For the CEO? Whoever, just make us care! While they were both well-produced, I think the Downtown Cleveland Alliance's videos ended up a lot more compelling than this one. Still, a dramatic improvement on previous GCP messaging.
