February 18, 20223 yr Thanks for the article Ken. Very happy to read the impasse has been worked out.

March 1, 20223 yr Dreary day, but the Artisan is taller than the neighbors: Also, if you look close, the exterior is being installed! Edited March 1, 20223 yr by WhatUp info
March 1, 20223 yr Thanks for all the update photos. I know something that could cheer up a dreary day. Excavation work at the Library Loft site. Hopefully soon.
March 2, 20223 yr Pardon the poor quality - just took a quick pic while I was at the red light. Got excited when I noticed glass going up today! (I see now that @freethinkgot the glass in his pic yesterday too)

March 6, 20223 yr Beautiful day in Cleveland and our second downtown’s latest high rise is coming along nicely.
March 8, 20223 yr Cool little anecdote, for what it's worth... I was sleeping on my late night flight yesterday, and was awoken by some mild turbulence as we went further into our descent... I looked out the window and saw a skyline that looked nothing like downtown, but was clearly some sort of collection of dense buildings, which appeared to be the central business district of a city I was unfamiliar with... I immediately panicked and thought we'd been forced to land in another city (I convinced myself it was Louisville based upon my previous travels)... But then my moment of panic and despair faded away, as I awoke fully and realized that I was looking at University Circle/Uptown. It was a nerve-wracking, but really cool experience to notice how filled out that area has become. Albeit this was contributed to by my slumber and stupidity

Saw two excavator machines on the lot today, Not sure if they are for library lofts or the Artisan lot. They were just sitting.
March 11, 20223 yr As a frequent commuter through UC, I am really loving the density the Artisan provides, especially compared One University Circle. When driving down Chester you can no longer see the top of the building, which I am to assume is due to height and coming right up to the street. Looking forward to seeing the building progress further and the rest of the development come together!

According to an update on their CoUrbanize page, construction started Wednesday! https://courbanize.com/projects/cpl_mlk_branch/updates Their timeline also mentions that they will have an official groundbreaking ceremony on May 14th.
March 14, 20223 yr Author Library Lofts construction starts By Ken Prendergast / March 14, 2022 Two months before its official groundbreaking is scheduled to be held, construction work has started on the next new building in Cleveland that’s big enough to put another tower crane in the sky over booming University Circle. March 15, 20223 yr Sharp-looking building. Look forward to seeing eat up that dead space. The note about the Artisan is so true. I can’t think of another significant Cleveland development that went from announcement to construction so seamlessly.
March 22, 20223 yr Author That looks a city I'd like to live in! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

March 23, 20223 yr Man, that floor to ceiling glass is gonna make for some dramatic views overlooking the lagoon, CMA, and Case.
March 25, 20223 yr I don't want to spam with pics from 2 days in a row, but is was a nicer day with different vantage points, so enjoy: and my phone doesn't zoom through tinted triple-pane glass very well, but dirt is moving!
March 25, 20223 yr Author @WhatUp It is impossible to spam on this site when the tallest building under construction in University Circle is involved. 🙂 "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 25, 20223 yr I wonder who owns that parking lot in the center of the block on the east side of E105th Street between Euclid and Chester. Strange that it is not a hot development target, especially since it seems to be lightly used, as reflected in the above picture.

March 26, 20223 yr The glass on Artisan looks very sharp in person; photos don’t do it justice. It blows my mind how much this area has changed in the last ten years.
March 29, 20223 yr Author Nice. Interesting to see the Library Lofts work, as specified in their new permit, being carried out ASAP. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
April 7, 20223 yr Author Great shots @WhatUp! Please retake that first photo toward the end of this year. It's going to be very busy. Not only should The Artisan still have its crane, but so will Library Lofts and we'll see that parking lot in the foreground start getting torn up for the Cole Eye Institute expansion. All I ask is your kind permission to use that future photo for a blog article about all the construction happening in UC. 🙂 "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
April 7, 20223 yr Always love seeing sky cranes. Hell, they're more visually interesting than the final product most of the time. I mean, can we get some shapes besides rectangles for once. Edited April 7, 20223 yr by TBideon
April 12, 20223 yr The Artisan should be an amazing place to live - and it’ll only get better the higher the floor. Imagine those views in any direction. UC is looking very cosmopolitan.
April 12, 20223 yr Such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Now that the library is getting started the final piece of the project will be the last two buildings. If that happens that little corner will be so urban, so dynamic.

If that happens that little corner will be so urban, so dynamic. There is also going to be a third building on the site of the current MLK library. In fact, I would imagine it would be built before the two planned buildings on the east side of Stokes which are still very iffy at this point, especially since office space is a component in one of them.
