As I have moaned about before-I usually could care less how long it takes to complete a project, but in this case they cannot complete Phase 1 until the new library is occupied and I would imagine the delays also effects the start of Phase 2, although I imagine Phase 2 has much bigger complications- the usual hardship of putting together financing.

July 4, 20231 yr Not sure we’ve seen this view towards Circle Square & Univ. Circle from atop The Lumen - the look is very impressive - and as future high structures are added - it will only be better (sorry just a regular iPhone 11)
July 5, 20231 yr Great and underappreciated view of the city. I didn't realize the scale of the Clinic parking garages until I saw them against the other buildings.

July 7, 20231 yr @CLEastsiderWhat's apparently hidden in this great pic of this "DIY" crane dubbed Nessy is the gang of twenty workers tugging down on the cable so the whole thing doesn't fall over.
July 7, 20231 yr Author A crane without a crew cab atop it? Dare we call this one "Ichabod Crane"? "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 7, 20231 yr We do realize this type of crane (controlled remotely from the ground) was used for the Edge on Euclid, the Ascent in Cleveland Heights, and several other mid rise buildings, right? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 7, 20231 yr Author Not surprising considering that all were built with Cold-Formed Steel Framing (CFSF) flooring systems and load-bearing walls above their 2-3 story reinforced concrete podiums. July 7, 20231 yr Author @Neal435CLE how about some photos from "inside" the Medley Apartments? If you prefer, post them to via private message and I'll put them in an article. 🙂 "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 16, 20231 yr Author So they're about halfway up. The concrete podium is three floors. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 16, 20231 yr Somebody needs to do some pruning of those trees surrounding the cancer building. I know we complain about a lack of street trees and/or dead and dying trees due to lack of maintenance, poor placement or inappropriate varietal selection, but overgrown trees are just as bad, give a shabby appearance and eventually, lack of pruning adversely affects over all growth. That one tree on e105th looks like it is actually hitting the building.
July 16, 20231 yr Author I'd like to see that building on the northeast corner of Euclid and 105 be replaced. If I recall, the zoning allows for a 20+ story building there. Then we address the NW corner, then fill in the SW and SE corners up to the sidewalks. Bring back downtown #2, Doans Corners! July 21, 20231 yr whats the story on the status of the other buildings planned for around there after library lofts?
July 21, 20231 yr Author Doubt you'll see any movement until after MLK Library moves into its new home. Then the old library will be demolished for the future hotel-atop-retail, but the temporary library parking lot across the street can be developed with offices and possibly another Artisan-scale apartment building. Hopefully the construction market will improve by then! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
September 13, 20231 yr Drove by Library Lofts yesterday. Framing has started on fifth floor of the apartments. This project to me has been underwhelming all along.....and slow construction, but it is beginning to have a presence on Euclid. Hoping it turns out better than the renders.

One of my unexpressed concerns about this project is that I am pretty sure there is no funding for the proposed plaza/park fronting the apartment building. It won't be a great look on Euclid if a chain linked surface parking lot is touching this new library and apartment building.
