Posted April 3, 200619 yr This is my first photo post, so if the pictures don't work... sorry! Otherwise, these are photos from my week long trip to London. Hands down one of the coolest experiences of my life. The weather was a little sketchy so the light quality isn't the best... but they came out ok. Some of the non-London pics are from Essex (seaside), Berkhamsted (farmland), and Bath(Roman spa town). The pictures all came out the wrong size (too large)... I'll keep working on this... sorry. In the meantime you can check out the photos at http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/sgoldlondon Hey, I got Westminster Abbey to work now! Someone must be watching over me... April 6, 200619 yr man- I am so jealous (bit as consolation I leave for San Fran tomorrow) I went to London a few years ago, this time of year and it was more mild than Cleveland. I LOVE London. I would like to go back, but then I struggle with wanting to see other places. If people go to London, there is an express train that goes to Edinburgh- now that is a sweet city. It is reasonably priced and since you are over in the UK you should not miss this city either. Also for real Ale (beer!) fans see this site:www.camra.org.uk it will hook you up with the most amazing pubs. We found all these little holes the wall that had the best beer and ridiculous charm. I do not mean to obsess over beer, but pubs are a huge part of Brittish life. Kind of like wine in Sonoma.
April 7, 200619 yr Terrific architecture, street scenes and the choo-choos ain't too shabby either! I would love to see something like this in Stark's Warehouse District, like along Frankfort.... And the photo below may require some explanation. In some subway systems, the station platform areas are kept warm by putting in these rows of sliding glass doors at the trackside edge of the platform. When a train pulls in and the train's doors open, it triggers the sliding glass doors to open, too. This would be a nice addition to rail systems in colder U.S. and Canadian cities! April 7, 200619 yr Not bad for a first photo thread. I'll be posting my first within the next few days, though it won't be quite so spectacular (just shots of Akron on a cloudy day). Great pics!!
April 7, 200619 yr Thanks all, I've got tons more pics to post but I'm just getting frustrated with photobucket. Is there a way to resize all the pics, or do you have to do it one by one? All mine look huge on UO unless I resize them.
April 7, 200619 yr the sliding doors are not just to keep the station warm kjp, it's to keep crowded stations safer as well. gold we want to see more! i use imageshack to host, you can instantly resize while you load them. the only downside is you have to upload your photos one at a time and the site gets overwhelmed kind of often.
April 7, 200619 yr Wow...just - wow... Very nicely done! Definitely gotta go there some day. My dad's been there two or three times a year for probably ten or fifteen years, normally a week at a time, for work. He keeps telling us that we need to go, and I know he's right, but man, this thread really cinches the deal!
April 7, 200619 yr Yeah, photobucket adds pictures one at a time too... maybe I'll try imageshack. Thanks for the advice! Also, Picadilly and Parliament added!
April 7, 200619 yr Pbase lets you zip the .jpg's and upload the zip file, then it unpacks them for you...also, you can load whatever size you like, then it creates small, medium, large and originals, and you can then link directly to any of the sizes you like...
April 7, 200619 yr Nice pictures. I went to London in the summer of 2004 and loved it!!! We stayed at the Portman Square Hyatt and even spent 2 nights at The Savoy on the Strand! Two awesome hotels. Did you get to go to the Lake District? I loved being able to take trains to the various parts of England! I cant believe that London has about 8 or so train stations. And the shopping wasn't that bad either!
