February 27, 20223 yr Nice but don't stop there. What does it look like with the parking garage from that angle? I know it's just a garage but with the new height and glass cladding it might not look too bad. Just curious.

May 1, 20223 yr It's looking like the Global Ctr is on its way to be part of the Convention Ctr. So this is something I put together a couple of years ago when thinking of ways to expand the CC and add a hotel while still tying that all in to the proposed land bridge.

An additional hotel and a connection to Public Hall. Not sure why it isn't already connected. I have been suggestion the Justice center be converted to a hotel and connected underground to the convention complex. Take a look at these pics of the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta. It is a brutalist structure with a hollowed out interior that makes an atrium. It would be expensive, but I could see the Justice Center tower looking like this and having a second life as a convention hotel.
May 1, 20223 yr There was a connection from the convention center to Public Hall at one time, but apparently it was removed during the latest renovation.

Would also love to see the windows pulled, and recess those spaces into covered balconies. Would help shrink the floor plates, and give value and completely change the look of the tower.
May 10, 20223 yr Would be interested to see a visualization of the new Bridgeworks from either the downtown side of the bridge looking west towards Ohio City and/or looking towards Bridgeworks, eastward, with downtown in the background. wondering if @Geowizical, @Plecoor one of our other talented rendering artists might be able to whip something up.

I'd be happy to, although my Bridgeworks model is so outdated at this point I'll basically have to create a whole new one 🙃 Do there happen to exist any floorplans or something similar in the renderings of the latest version?

This massing, just focusing on Bridgeworks in terms of the western side of the bridge, shows how downtowns vibe and energy is going to start (finally) expanding west and will make the city look and feel bigger. Add in a new 15-16 story Intro 2 and hopefully, some substantial new developments in The Flats West Bank and the growth will be even more apparent. I’m personally still hoping that someone decides to resurrect that very sexy Viaduct residential tower. Might as well think big - it doesn’t cost more to fantasize just a little bit!

Initial dislike and then when it hits the real world people are happy for it. As long as buildings are safe, have a minimum of parking, and have public interactions/multi-use I think we should build them. Get rid of the red tape on design reviews and let the city grow organically. The faster and easier it is to get something started the better imo.
May 16, 20223 yr I absolutely love this picture! I can't remember where I found it though.... Anyone talented enough to put in the SW tower? I would assume it would show up between the Hilton and the Justic Center. I think the new bridge on North Coast Harbor doesn't look half bad either!

From that angle the Justice Center will completely block SHW HQ. Look close at JC - Notice that 55 Public Square is immediately to the left and Fed Courthouse is immediately to the right and mostly blocked by JC. SHW HQ will be between those, and isn’t tall enough to stick out over the top. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Agree the North Coast Harbor angle is the best, most unique view of the city.
May 16, 20223 yr I think it will be slightly visible to the west (to the right) of the JC. Edited May 16, 20223 yr by dski44

May 16, 20223 yr I’ll prefer to keep it, despite its lack of aesthetic appeal! Unless you’re giving me a new 7th tallest in the city to replace it. The new SW with its million square feet in a less bulky, more vertical design would’ve easily reached TT heights, (or greater) and would’ve emerged above the JC - even at that angle, my favorite Cleveland cityscape. Come to think of it, a slimmer taller design would’ve enhanced views of downtown in a number of ways and from a number of angles, IMHO. But, as they say, it’s all good…don’t want to seem less than jacked for the new 616 foot addition. Edited May 16, 20223 yr by CleveFan
May 17, 20223 yr I guess I agree too. Hate the JC but don't want to tear it down because I don't want to lose a skyscraper. The thing is I'm not sure how feasible it is to keep it. The mechanics need to be replaced. What about asbestos? Plus it's such a massive square it would need some serious cutting up to make it work. It's probably cheaper to tear it down and start over with a new build. At any rate, it will be interesting to follow this story. My guess is it's torn down but we'll see...

June 10, 20223 yr Would one of you pro's ( @Geowizical @Pleco??) be able to do a mock up of what a 15 floor building, similar to the size of Bridgeworks, would look like on the south-east side of 25th and Detroit(the location in the below pic)? It would be cool to see a graphic of how that intersection would feel with having the Bridgeworks building built as well as a similar size building on the opposite corner(see below)!!! Thanks in advance, your fantastic work is always appreciated!
June 10, 20223 yr I know it’s a lot easier to call in a request than it is to actually produce a rendering - but I don’t think we’ve seen SW imagined from this angle, as photographed by @MayDay Hopefully @Geowizicalor @Plecoor one of our talented artists can change that.. June 11, 20223 yr Author @NRI'd be happy to! Although unfortunately i lost the save file with the most updated Bridgeworks from several weeks ago, I can definitely still make a quick mockup with a slightly older/initial version
