Posted September 19, 20204 yr I was having some technical difficulties with this post, fully admitting I'm not always the brightest blinker on the Buick. Anyway, what's been 'keeping me sane/getting through the night/take your pick' is getting out with the camera in tow. For those who follow my Instagram, apologies for the duplicity but had a reminder of 'no matter what, the sun's still gonna rise' and took a few pics just to be sure. Apologies for the disparity in quality - sometimes I can bring out the DSLR, others (walking the dog) it's best to do my best with a point and shoot. Anyway, I've always loved early fall for photography - not too cold, humidity is dropping, lighting gets a little more dramatic. Subject matter is a little random but mostly downtown and views from the Tremont stretch of the Towpath. From Cliff Drive - I guess what struck me most was ... we've added three significant buildings (Lumen, Beacon, Hilton) and just the way things line up from this view, the only one making any noticeable impact on the skyline is the Hilton. To get through troubling times in society, it's Key to keep looking up ? From the architectural photography angle, not having people in the Arcade is a bonus. Gotta say I'd rather have those folks in the way, keeping the eateries and shops in business and cluttering the shot. FYI to anyone who (like me) favored this place at lunch hour - they've removed the seating and tables (at least as of Thursday, September 17th). Next up, some shots from the Tremont stretch of the Towpath - near the West 12th/Clark trailhead. Okay, some scenic vantage points. Lest we forget, this is old school Tremont (the Southside) so at this trailhead, you're treated to a sweeping view of Airgas, the impound lot and the steel mills. ?♂️ The good news is the remediation of Clark Fields is plugging along. On the other hand - if you want to check this stretch out, be aware it's a popular spot for coyotes so keep your puppies on a leash and in close proximity. The mounds depicted here offer some great views for those hardy enough to trek to the top (I've done it once, and being of a certain age - it might be while before I try that again) Electric Gardens apartments - guessing the homeowners in CityView who paid north of $500K for their places aren't too thrilled about this blocking some of their view? Looking forward to when this bridge is completed - for now it's an awkward transition from the trail to what remains of University Avenue. But can't complain about the views ? September 19th, reflecting on the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg - as I said in a post back in March when things started unraveling - no matter what, the sun's still gonna rise. October 10, 20204 yr Author Another batch, pretty much all from the Tremont and Scranton Flats sections of the Towpath. First, let's start with a little love from 1111 Superior. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
October 10, 20204 yr @MayDay this is a FANTASTIC set !! How lucky we are to live in a place where you can find such incredible natural settings right within what is considered 'downtown'. Hopefully in the coming years more and more people discover this as it becomes more and more accessible. Shiny new buildings are great, but this is the kind of thing that really can't be replicated. Also... "I'm not always the brightest blinker on the Buick" is a new phrase that I fully intend to use ?
October 11, 20204 yr Author @mrclifton88Thank you and agreed ? I remember the initial plans for the Towpath on the east edge of Tremont waaay back in the day and thinking “ehhh, how’s that going to play out” and here we are ? In addition to the Buick reference, feel free to also use “not the sharpest tool in the shed” ? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
