Cleveland%20Crunch_i.jpg

"The Crunch and MetroHealth announced on Friday, Feb. 12, that the health system will be the soccer club's official medical provider during the 2021-22 season. ... The Crunch will compete in M2, which is the second division of the Major Arena Soccer League. The organization will play its home games at the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmsted. For the Crunch to eventually make the jump to the MASL's top division, the club would need to play in downtown Cleveland, Ruscitto told WEWS last year. The Crunch will kick off its season with an exhibition contest against Brew City Legends FC on Feb. 27. The 6 p.m. match will be held at the Sportsplex. General admission tickets are being sold for $10."

Return of the Crunch: After nearly 20 years, professional indoor soccer is returning to Cleveland (channel 5)

I went to high school with #10 and the teams Vice President of Operations. Cool. I'm excited to see this team😁

Apparently they removed the guitar from their logo.  Good idea.

Reboot: New Cleveland Crunch owners working to secure downtown location

Kevin Kleps - Crain's Cleveland Business - Mar. 27, 2021

Crunch%20action%201_i.jpg

"The owners are hopeful the Crunch will have an agreement in place in the next few months that will result in the franchise kicking off the 2021-22 season at a downtown venue. The Wolstein Center, where the former Crunch drew 11,162 fans for a double-overtime win that clinched the franchise's first title in 1994, and Cleveland Public Auditorium are the most viable possibilities, the owners said. The spacious Public Auditorium is the "most promising" option, Ruscitto said, due to talks that have been ongoing since August. 'It definitely needs to go downtown,' said Hector Marinaro, one of the stars of the Crunch's 13-season run from 1989 to 2002."

Wolstein Center seems to be the logical choice.

Hopefully we will soon find out where they will be playing next season.

Title in return season 'feels like a fairy tale' to Cleveland Crunch owners

Kevin Kelps - Crain's Cleveland Business - July 19, 2021

"The ownership group hopes that the Crunch will make the jump to the MASL's top division in the next few years. The move would require an operating budget that exceeds seven figures, Davis and Ruscitto told Crain's in March. ... The owners had mentioned Cleveland Public Auditorium and the Wolstein Center as the most likely possibilities in the spring. On July 19, Davis told Crain's an announcement on a home for the 2021-22 season should be coming 'soon.' "

Since we are talking MLSNP & USL-C Soccer talk in 2 other threads - I would like to start some talk in another thread.

I caught this in Our Sports Central Weekly Sports and Franchise report ( 08/22/22 )

Major League Indoor Soccer: The new professional MLIS was announced this week and will start a 2022-23 season in December with each team playing a 12-game schedule. The MLIS announced the first five teams that will be participating in the 2022-23 season include the Chicago Mustangs, Cleveland Crunch, Cincinnati Swerve and two new teams located in northern Illinois and western Michigan. The Chicago Mustangs, Cleveland Crunch and Cincinnati Swerve were part of a Great Lakes Division in the 2021-22 season of the Major Arena Soccer League 2. The MLIS stated applications have also been received from groups in Buffalo, Rochester (NY), Erie (PA), Lehigh Valley (PA), Hartford and Detroit.

Do any Crunch fans have any info on this?

The IX Center seemed like an odd location.  Wolstein Center would probably be a better venue than Public Hall, although I see the Cleveland Charge is scheduled to play there in the evening on March 18th.

My god, I didn't even know the Cleveland Crunch were still around. I wonder if the Lumberjacks are playing as well?

Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) and the reigning league champion Cleveland Crunch are partnering on a plan to bring the MLIS men’s and women’s playoff weekend to the Wolstein Center from April 11-13, 2025.

If all goes well, the 33-year-old arena could again be the home site for Crunch games as early as the 2026 season. The Crunch currently plays games at the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmsted, which has a capacity of about 700 fans.

Cleveland Crunch lose the 2025 MLIS Championship game 10-8 in OT to Amarillo Bombers

at the Wolstein Center

Bummer that they lost. I went to the semifinals on Friday with the family. My son who plays for Spire was on the field to greet the Crunch players when they came out. He knew one of them, Sami Mutemwa who is also a Spire coach, and they greeted each other. Martin had a great time at the game.
