Posted October 10, 20204 yr With a few minutes to spare before picking up dinner, I caught a few with my geriatric Samsung of the newly renovated Levis Square Park in downtown Toledo. This park hosts food trucks and music on Thursdays during the summer, among many other smaller local events. Starting on St. Clair, looking up Madison New park signage, looking toward the Maumee River New lights, seating, plantings all recently completed, in front of the Fiberglas Tower and Garage, now the Tower on the Maumee, with apartments and offices. All new pavers, disposals, though they kept the fountain; Seagate Convention Centre in the background, soon to be renovated. The sun was really bright today in Toledo, a lot of harsh shadows A local Asian fusion place grows their fresh greens in this hydroponic space under the Fiberglas parking garage A peek between the tower and garage, to the original Holiday Inn/Riverview hotel, now partially demolished and soon to be fully demolished, and the Park Inn Radisson Hotel, also recently closed but will be renovated as part of the convention center changes and rebranded a Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites. The O-I Building for many years, now PNC Bank - framing Levis Square, the Minoru Yamasaki-designed One Government Center peeks up on the right. Park detail The Daniel Burnham-designed Steam Plant, vacant for many years, became part of a new corporate campus for local healthcare company Promedica. The Toledo Trust tower, now apartments. Looking up Madison again, into the reflections as the sun sets Edited November 24, 20204 yr by westerninterloper duplicate photo
October 10, 20204 yr Is the Holiday Inn to be demolished the building also known as the Hotel Seagate? The mid century one that they stopped demo on because the structure was in good shape and could be re-used? If so that is too bad. Its a cool looking building. I thought it was heartening that they stopped demo and saw the value in the structure.

I don't recall the specifics, whether the renovation was economically or structurally unviable, but it will be torn down. it will leave a gap in the skyline for sure.
