10/29/2020 - Added a Night Mode setting.  Enables users to auto switch their theme based on a selected time.  ie, daylight, nighttime.

10/30/2020 - Added the ability to auto-embed google docs.

10/30/2020 - Added Ad blocker detection.  It can be dismissed for now. Encourages members to sign up for No-Ad or Premium accounts.

Dismissing the ad blocker nag popup leaves the page un-scrollable on both Safari for Mac and Firefox for Windows.  Refreshing the page fixes it, so it seems like some of the popup's underlying code isn't being flushed by just dismissing it.

Looks like the "Twitter Quotes unreadable on Dark Theme" issue got taken care of.  Was this a software update, or did someone on UO change the theme colors a bit?  And if so, thanks, it looks nice!

The theme was updated and then applied to our site.  I agree though, it is much better.

Any way to move the "Mark site read" option away from the "Sign Out" link in mobile? I keep fat fingering it and signing myself out.

Premium member storage has been increased from 500MiB to 2.5GiB! This change was made possible by moving most of our data storage to the cloud.

Our forum software has been accepting large image uploads but when displaying them it shows a smaller thumbnail that can be clicked to increase the size.  I've changed this limit to show the 1080p image size inline.  If images larger than this are uploaded, you will be able to click it to show the full size.  This should help the photo threads a bit since it was only showing thumbnail sizes.

As a reminder, users are allotted 200mb of space for image uploads.   Premium members are given 2.5gb's.

A new theme has been added today.  It is largely based on the current default theme but users now have the ability to switch between a light and dark theme by the press of a button.  It is available to admin, mods, and premium members for the time being.

I've noticed a few times when I'm posting, I go to backspace/delete some text and one press of the backspace button causes the entire message to disappear.

In many browsers, backspace is the equivalent of the back button. (Which is something I always disliked.)  This could be the cause, especially if the text field was no longer selected.  This *MIGHT* be something that could be changed in browser settings.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

I have not had that issue that I'm aware of.  It could be a browser/device specific issue.  If that does happen in the future try pressing ctrl z to see if it comes back.  Sorry I don't have a better definitive answer.

I just noticed that and not a fan. I’ll see if I’m able to change it back.

Can't "like" anything in Ohio Politics. Or am I banned from that, too? lol

No one can “like” in Ohio Politics or any thread in the Current Events sections. Trust me, it’s better that way.

Looks like you succeeded!

There used to be a number under people's names that had how many "likes" they've had total - I don't see that anymore.

Also, I am a premium member and I don't see that designation anymore.  Perhaps my year ran out and it's time to renew.  Let me know.

They changed the way that work's with IPS 4.6, so no it's not displayed.  If you try the day/night theme, it's still available though.

It looks like it expired earlier in the month.

Thanks for the info. I’ll re-up my membership this weekend.

I went to re-up my membership and the membership option said $40/yr and when I got to the checkout section, it was charging me $50. Im happy to pay $50, but wanted to point this out.

That’s because it’s a renew and the price was $50 then, so it renews at the same price. I’ll go in and see if I can lower it.

Edit:

I misspoke.  You signed up when it was $25 for your first year and $50 for the renewal.

Should be good to go.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Paid.  Thank you for changing it.

Just now I noticed that when I use the "Unread Content" link, I see a topic multiple times if I have multiple unread messages. See below.
image.png.2ac77da9a452d80ea3349b387378c5f6.png

I used to only see a topic once, even if I had missed multiple messages since the last time I checked. I would use the "Unread Content" link (https://forum.urbanohio.com/index.php?/discover/unread/) so I could quickly look through the list of recently posted topics and only read the ones I'm interested in.

Is this a change we knew was coming or is there a workaround to only see a topic once? If a topic is especially active, this is going to clutter up this page significantly. The "activity" feed is usually where I would go if I wanted to see every individual post.

I haven't changed any settings related to this, nor has our software been updated in the last year.  So I'm not sure what could have caused the issue you're experiencing.

It must've solved itself then, because it was a very shortlived problem for me. Within the hour of posting that it was fixed. Strange.

Something about the colors/css is making @ mentions unreadable, rendering with white text on extremely light gray background. See first screenshot with the @ mention circled in yellow. I see this on my laptop (Windows, Chrome) and on my phone (iPhone, Chrome).

I'm not sure how easy it is for the admins to modify CSS, but something on a[data-mentionid] needs to be modified to make these legible. Simply removing the "color: #fff" attribute (see second screenshot) makes it work.

I’ll either get this fixed next week or it may be fixed itself when IPS 5 is released.

Was there a platform recently that may have changed this?
Using Firefox I am no longer able to type in the reply box. It fills the type box with the file attachment window and you can't type anything. It doesn't leave it below the type box like normal.

I'm on Edge now and it does not do that, nor on Chrome.Screenshot2024-10-25at09-18-46AkronRandomDevelopmentandNews-Page31-NortheastOhioProjectsConstruction-UrbanOhio_com.png.b9d536721839d949d91eda5597540aed.png

Not that I’m aware of. I’ll look into it a bit and report back.

I downloaded Firefox and am replying just fine.  Sorry, I can't be more helpful.  Maybe ensure you have the latest update?
