Yay!  Nice, bright sunshine in Columbus, and just as beautiful gloom in Cincinnati!

For some reason I always laugh when I see OSU's architecture building. Thanks for the chuckle and pics, I really like the Cincy shot with the yellow hummer in the distance (not for the hummer (or whatever that is)).

Did you plan the terrorism shot?

Amazing shots of Over the Rhine's unparelleled architecture! The new development on High Street looks really good too.

Yes, I planned it.

Fantatic shots of campus.  I love the shot of all the people on the sidewalk, don't see that kinda pedestrian density in Ohio very often.

I can't believe you got that shot of the plane, that had to be timed perfectly!

Cincinnati looks kinda gloomy in these pics, but I'm sure the weather didn't help things.

cdm thanks so much for showing all the new gateway stuff. wow it looks sharp. i love how b&n kept that cool long's sign.

a rainy cinci was pretty classic too, looks great as always.

Very, very cool...the shots with Rookwood Pottery are my favorite!

I wish you would stop reposting photos you took in 2003 and giving them new titles every 5 months or so.

8-) :-D

^...and Photoshopping new retaining walls into Mt. Adams - that's just rude!

I was with ColDay for those first few Columbus pictures from the Rhodes Tower and remarked that he probably already had a million pictures from up there.  But he pointed out that he didn't have pictures with the Bank One sign down.  Gotta keep up with the changing times!

I hate to always come across as the curmudgeonly crank that I am, but (based solely on what I see in these pictures) I hate the new and "improved" High St! I admit it's been quite a few years (to say the least) since I've been to the OSU campus, but this whole development looks like nothing more than gentrification run amok. I've heard tell that OSU is now more academically competitive (ahem...) than in my day (or have the PR flacks at OSU just become more media savvy like those at other "brand-name" colleges?), therefore let's make sure the future yuppies of America can feel at home there (like they never left their comfy suburban/mega-mall environments) and make a seamless transition to corporate life!

Nice pics of both cities.  Seemed to catch a little more urbanity in Cincy (as I would expect).  But I like the photos you took around OSU....nice job.

I need to get up to the Rhodes Tower observation deck one of these days. Is it open-air, on the roof like Carew in Cincy and National City in Toledo, or is it inside the building?

Calvin, the Rhodes observation is indoors, yet their windows are always clean (so it wouldn't really matter if you were outdoor/indoor).

Couldn't agree more.  High street before was one of the best most lively urban strips in Ohio.  I love how it got so crowded that they had to put those wires along the edge of the sidewalk to keep people from spilling into the street.  And also liked how the storefronts were below the sidewalk and above...it was so haphazard and unorganized.  That new thing is horribly bland.  Huge blunder for Colubus and OSU as far as I'm concerned.

All the state schools have decided to pursue quality over quanity. That might be part of the problem of these "research institutions" perpitual tutition increases.

Excellent photos, Columbus and Cincinnati are looking good.

Thanks for the Pics, I have not seen the Gateway since last years Texas game.

I am really trying to like it because it is there now, and it looks like at least the first 10 years will be good with the tenants who are there (corporate bars, that don't look corporate).  I wonder how it will do after the original leases end.

But, I have to say, I hate the Long's sign there.  It just reminds me of the cool neighborhood that was lost.  Too bad it can't go to some sort of OSU or Columbus historical society.

I personally prefer the Long's sign there than at 15th/High.  It looks a bit better at the Gateway than some non-descript white box.

although the pic of the jet seemingly flying into that building gave me a momentary "9/11" flash back - I, of course, especially liked the Cincy pix and in particular the lines in the one with the CVS pharmacy and Federated building. I don't know if it was intentional but catching the Metro bus really, I think, added to that composition.  You are awesome..  thx

It was more intentional to add the "Queen City" bus in the picture, than anything else.
