The nag screen now only shows "I've disabled my ad blocker" as an option.  No more "dismiss, will reappear in 5 days."  So our only choice to view the site is to allow ads that could compromise our computers or purchase a subscription?

I really doubt any google ads displayed are a threat to your computer, phone or other device.  But yes, that is correct. I think $20 a year to support a site you enjoy is a fair price.  And if you want to post pictures, spring for a premium account which gives you 2.5 gb of storage which is significant. 

I feel that's a bit silly.  It's just the way things work and the only things you get for "free" are from the giant social media companies who harbor your data, display ads, and do whatever they want with your data, and of course, make you believe it's free.  We're just trying to support what we're doing and bring more to our users. We will never spam your email, sell your data, or otherwise put profit over our users.
