So in the last two days, I've deleted about 2,500 tweets that I've posted. Most of what I deleted were in the Trump thread where I was the top poster with more than 5,500 posts. Now I've dropped to nearly third place, far behind @DarkandStormyand almost back to @freefourur with just under 3,200 posts. That thread is now about 30 pages shorter! I also deleted a lot of tweet posts in the Republican thread which is now seven pages shorter.

Like I've said elsewhere, my purpose in posting those tweets was to make me feel like I was doing *something* but was, in reality, merely screaming in to the void. But it did help me feel better and reduce the stress of the moment. So as soon I'd posted those tweets they had served their purpose. They don't anymore. All they do is slow down the forum.

I hope that this mass-deletion will speed up the forum a little bit.

Well a lot of those tweets and users get deleted over time so it makes the forum look weird when you go back and look at old posts for context. That's like if you look at threads on any forum that are from the 2000s it looks like an archeological dig.

Personally, I have always liked your memes because they create a flashpoint to try and stir discussion. Sometimes placing an article does not lead to discussion the way a meme void of all nuance can.

I don't know why Tweets bog down the website so much, but they really do.

They're useful, of course, when they contain some actual information, but they're so often just a reference to a reaction to a hint at something that may or may not be true,  but never gets mentioned.  I follow the news fairly closely, but still find some of these tweets to be maddening vague about what they're about.

Practically, I don't think you need to go back and delete Tweets- they primarily matter when they're on the most recent page or two.  Just please (anyone) use a little self editing and quality control about which ones you share here.

Would it be better to copy/paste the link but not have it display the tweet?  The user could then copy/paste the content of the tweet as a quote.  Not sure if that would be easier for not bogging down the site.

I think if the Tweets are relevant and useful to the discussion, it's just fine to have them display on the forum.  I'm really more concerned about massive quantities of Tweets that offer no value to the forum.
