This seems like it will be a joint first time venture into mid-rise for Casto and Edge. Everyone has to have their first so we will see what they bring.

I forgot Casto had that. Woot woot for two midrises then!

I think Edge is probably only providing land use planning services, which would make sense considering this project is still in the very early planning stages. Based on Edge's website they don't seem to do building architecture.

EDGE are land planners and landscape architects. They did River and Rich for Casto and Moody Nolan was the architect.

I don't know why Business First keeps calling this Victorian Village. This is in Harrison West.

First Look: More details emerge on $41M, 11-story tower planned in Victorian Village

"Ohio Living has a design and financing plan for a third luxury high-rise on its Westminster-Thurber Community on Neil Avenue in Victorian Village.

The 56-unit Heritage Pointe will cost $41 million, and is expected to bring in about $15 million in entrance fees, CFO Robert Stillman said in a recorded call with bond investors.

There is a 120-person waiting list for Goodale Landing, which opened in 2016. Of those on the list, Stillman said, 90 already are financially pre-qualified to buy in to the project."

Looks like this is still a go:

Coronavirus hasn't stopped luxury senior high-rise planned at the edge of Victorian Village

By Carrie Ghose  – Staff reporter, Columbus Business First

The pandemic has not stopped demand for a luxury senior high-rise that a Central Ohio nonprofit still plans to build just north of downtown Columbus.

According to the article they already have paid deposits for 26 of the 56 units planned for this tower. That's a great sign considering they haven't even started construction yet.

The article also mentions that they hope to start construction in the fall "if the project gets final approvals - and the bond market settles down".

I was never clear on where exactly this will be placed in relation to the other towers.

Same. I thought I read it would be put up on the site of a connector between the two of the current buildings, but not sure which connector it will be (the one fronting Neil or the one connecting the two that overlook I-670).

I think it is going here, but I cannot remember 100%

The site is fenced off and the right southbound lane of Neil Ave is closed. I’ll bet demo starts soon.

Awesome! Last I checked, they were planning to have it open by 2023, so hopefully we see some construction/demo work starting soon.

Ohio Living has started construction on the third luxury senior living high-rise at its Westminster-Thurber Community north of downtown Columbus.

This project is showing up in 2 threads. I personally think it should be in the Harrison West thread since it's not within Victorian Village. Maybe there should be a Thurber Village thread that includes this and the Casto shopping center redevelopment just to the north?

I second this.

Ya I've posted in both threads, usually just following someone else's earlier post (while missing concurrent posts about the project). It is defiantly not within the Victorian Village Boundary. The Harrison West Thread is the right place for South of Buttles, West of Neil (even though it is east of Harrison if it continued south).

Done.  Even though Thurber Village is a subset of the Harrison West neighborhood, people frequently think it is part of Victorian Village.  But because the Thurber developments are so different from the rest of the Harrison West neighborhood - and because there's alot of Thurber activity now - it is time to break out Thurber Village into its own thread.

Construction progress at Westminster-Thurber. No sign of a tower crane yet. The rig seen here is drilling foundation piles.

That'll be a nice addition. I'd love for Columbus to start seeing more developments in the 150-200 foot range.

Here's a view of the new Westminster-Thurber crane on the left and the Hilton crane on the left, from the LDC construction cam which, for some reason, is still live.

It was live before the match and was pretty cool to watch while people came in. They turned it off for the match and then it was back on.

not sure why it’s still live though,

most of the work that isn’t done, is inside.

Just realized they removed all of the balconies from the east end units. I am curious if these units will be converted in some way or if the occupants just lose their balcony.

Not only do you lose your balcony, but you now have a big sliding glass door that opens to a 10 floor drop.

Turns out they'll get expanded balconies, per this tiny text, in the YouTube construction video posted above Screenshot_20211105-040133.thumb.png.3b8053897c69846b00f521623c195617.png

Why is this photo freaking me out? What's up with the topography in the background? Did downtown move towards Lancaster while I was away?

That's Chestnut Ridge. Runs from Lithopolis almost to Lancaster.

Looks like there's an update coming from Casto for the Giant Eagle site. From the Harrison West Society facebook page:

Quote

Giant Eagle Neil Ave Plaza Update!!! Casto will be returning to the Harrison West Society public meeting on Wednesday, 2/16, to share an updated proposal for the development of the Giant Eagle plaza on Neil Avenue. This will be a forum for the developers to collect feedback from the area on the development. There have been several changes since this was last shared in early 2020. We highly encourage ALL neighbors, especially those in Harrison West and Victorian Village to attend this meeting to ask questions and share feedback. The event details including the Zoom invite is below. This is a public meeting that is open to all and any who would like to attend.
