Posted April 9, 200619 yr Another day downtown before I head out to Washington DC. This has been one of the nicest weekends we have experienced this year. My winter hibernation of photography seems to be over. The weather was perfect and the game was fun but one word of advice, don't sit in the shade at GABP in April without a jacket.
April 9, 200619 yr nice job. did they win? sorry i got rained out yesterday for your mets -- my pals had the tix in hand. oh well next time. send all that nice weather east.
April 9, 200619 yr Reds lost 5-3. I saw that my Mets were rained out last night but they won today against the Marlins 3-2 - Yay!
April 10, 200619 yr wtf is your mastcot, looks what would happen if slider and the phanatic had a baby
April 10, 200619 yr wtf is your mastcot, looks what would happen if slider and the phanatic had a baby Its 'Gapper' a kids-friendly mascot. It was a new addition just the other year, and has stuck around. 'Mr. Red is still the main mascot with 'Mr. Redleg' as the original and IMO the best!
April 10, 200619 yr Mr. Red is a ripoff Mr. Met. Back off Reds... Oh and Mr. Met dates back to the start of the franchise in 1962, here he is on a 1963 yearbook.
April 10, 200619 yr It may be true that Mr. Red and Mr. Met have some simlilarities (maybe relatives of some sort), but lets not get into the 'rip offs' debate. Look at the Mets NY logo compared to the Yankees...and for the Reds (1st professional franchise) Cincinnati Redstalkings.....Boston Red Sox.....Chicago White Sox...hmmmmm
April 10, 200619 yr ^ Well let me correct a couple of things... The name Mets comes from the organization that was trying to get a National League team back in New York called the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club, Inc. The logo is from the New York Giants baseball team, it isn't a rip off Yankee logo. The colors of the Mets come from Dodger Blue and New York Giant orange and also the colors of the New York City flag.
April 10, 200619 yr Hahahahaha! The Mets! That's like saying "the Clippers" in Los Angeles. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 10, 200619 yr Mets fans are stupid. Mr.Met is a ripoff of Mr.Red. Pictures taken from the 1957 season preview in Sports Illustrated. Five years before the Mets even existed. !
April 11, 200619 yr ^ Well let me correct a couple of things... First, the Dodgers & Giants left after the 1957 season. The Mets came in 4 seasons later. MLB wasn't going to expand till Branch Rickey and his "planned" Contennetal (sp) League in 1960 forced MLB's hand and they expanded to both defuse Branch's league and a threatened attack on their anti-trust exemption. The Metropolitans' placement in the NL and team colors/design was to remember the Dodgers/Giants as stated before.
April 12, 200619 yr Fantastic pics. T'was a hell of a day for a ballgame. P.S> Too bad the thread had to be ruined by this ad appearing at the bottom: Cincinatti Baseball Shop Buy Cincinatti Baseball Jerseys. Officially Licensed Merchandise.
April 13, 200619 yr Thanks for the kind words I'm not a fan of any specific MLB team. But when you make a post perpetuating a lie often said by Mets fans (which I definitively disproved above.) And when you also earlier told anyone saying anything to otherwise dispute that claim to back off, that's stupid.
April 13, 200619 yr ^ First off you really know how to make friends. You have a mere 20 posts and instead of commenting on my photos good or bad, you would rather pick a fight about something petty. Many of the forumers on here know I am a Mets fan and know my sarcasm. You need to work on your social skills and take certain things with a grain of salt. To everyone else, thanks for the comments.
April 13, 200619 yr ^^^ If you say something in your own thread unrelated to your pictures that isn’t true along with the other comments that you posted with it above than you shouldn’t get mad if the subject goes off the topic of your pictures for a while. And I didn't say anything bad about your pictures or try to pick a "fight" with you. I just provided a picture that proved otherwise to what you said and thought the words you used with what you incorrectly stated were a little over the top for that subject. By your later eye rolling response you seemed to think there was more to it than that or I was somehow attacking your pictures or you personally and I wasn't.
