Posted November 29, 20213 yr I got a traffic camera ticket last month driving on Harvard Ave. 36 in a 25. I paid it. Mentioned it to a co worker and he was adamant that those tickets are illegal and you don't have to pay them, they wont' come back & suspend your license or put a ding on your credit etc. I had never heard that. Ticket was $150. Anyone have any experience with this either way? Just curious now...
November 29, 20213 yr I don't think they can put anything on your license. But I tried not paying a Linndale traffic camera ticket a year or so ago, and they certainly try to convince you that they will put a ding on your credit. I don't know the truth of it, but I ended up paying because it just wasn't worth the risk.

Mayfield Village is looking to do something similar on 271.

It is interesting that the city would want to spend the resources on the cameras given they need to pay an officer time to monitor it on location and then have to pay the camera company a hefty fee. It may be a loophole, but it is designed to make is quite uneconomical for the department to run the cameras

They just sit there and multiple citations can be issued in the time that the officer would issue one.

That's the guy who sits right alongside 77, i see him all the time... this was up on Harvard, a couple blocks east of 77.... there was no officer around
November 29, 20213 yr Author The ticket said "Notice of Responsibility".... no ability to plead not guilty from what I could tell and nothing in there about court costs...

November 29, 20213 yr When you get the ticket in the mail how would you know whether or not a cop was sitting there at the time of the incident? If a cop is there SOMETIMES, then a city could claim a cop was there at ANY time (or all times). Is the way to contest it to go to court and see if the cop shows up? And even if he does, can't he just be saying it? This all seems very shady.

I've fought traffic tickets before like that when I was younger and had a lot of tickets.... this didn't have an option to appear in court
