October 29, 20195 yr A skinny tower like that would be great in the Union Club parking hole ? Lets make that happen instead. Anyone know more about what the new facade is going to look like? I can only find a few renderings but it's pretty plain. Secondly- anyone know what was the deal with the AC Hotel (Marriott)? It was in some of the renderings and then dropped.

I do recall a long time ago that there was an article mentioning that they'd be open to developing the lot at some point in the future? Am I remembering that correctly? Sorry if this is off topic. Mods, you can move it to PHS discussion if needed.
October 30, 20195 yr I think the LeMeridien was just a concept. I believe it'll be some form of a Marriott.

A little confusingly, AC Hotels by Marriott is a different brand than Marriott’s Autograph Collection (which markets the Metropolitan at the 9, which I assume you’re referring to), and I see no reason why they wouldn’t hypothetically locate across the street from each other. That being said... 15 minutes ago, ASPhotoman said: I think the LeMeridien was just a concept. I believe it'll be some form of a Marriott. A hotel component to this project hasn’t been in the plans for at least as long as this current developer has had the reigns. As far as I recall, this, the Drury, Kimpton, Metropolitan, Westin, Hilton, etc, were all initially on the drawing board at about the same time and the conventional wisdom seemed to indicate that the market wouldn’t be able to absorb all of the additional hotel rooms. By virtue of the delays, a JHB Le Meridien/AC was the odd man out. Edited October 30, 20195 yr by brtshrcegr
October 30, 20195 yr The LeMeridian was with the prior out- of- state ( California ) ownership who was tied up in the courts with his partners. The State took over and appointed a receivership which subsequently sold it to Alto Partners. I remember the LeMeridian being discussed and even one of the the local channels ( Ch 8 ) doing a big story on it and mentioning it a a " go ". prior to the Indians in the playoffs. I think that was the year they were in the 1 game wild card playoff against Tampa Bay or maybe even mentioned as late as 2016 against the Cubs. But I remember a big story about the LeMeridian when the tribe was in the playoffs.
October 30, 20195 yr Some early interior photos of when this project just got off the ground, This is an amazing Flickr account for renovations around town!

November 15, 20195 yr Multiple flatbeds delivering a bunch of steel beams to the back of these buildings today.
November 15, 20195 yr Love that they’re not trying to mimic the facade to its left. It’s like we’re gaining a brand new infill building on Euclid. Looking forward to see what finish’s they use. So far ??

November 15, 20195 yr The upper floor interiors of these buildings are all going to be connected, like one big building - right? Edited November 15, 20195 yr by lafont
November 15, 20195 yr I don't think there is another city in the country, even those 20 times the size, that has so monumentally restored, renovated or converted excess or deteriorated space into new CBD homes. It's amazing! The citizens, developers and community leadership should be proud of this tremendous accomplishment!
November 16, 20195 yr thanks. I really like how this is becoming a high concentration of residential.

November 20, 20195 yr Any idea what these wires are for? An external generator perhaps? They're all around the street and head into the JHB building parking area. Boxes are probably every 100-150 feet or so.

November 22, 20195 yr I love the way each building's new window inserts are slightly different. They reflect the unique character of each building and their respective windows; a very impressive and extensive restoration. Edited November 22, 20195 yr by Frmr CLEder
