December 21, 20213 yr We have a thread for discussing the Jackson Administration. Any discussion here needs to keep real tight to the topic of City Club.

December 21, 20213 yr while we wait and just for comparison -- brooklyn is getting a (sorta) city- clubish res bldg with windows and balconies sticking out willy nilly: https://urbanize.city/nyc/post/16-story-104-unit-residential-development-planned-boerum-hill any others that look like this city club?
December 21, 20213 yr Neither are anything that interesting, but the NYC building is much better from a design standpoint, but that's just me.
December 21, 20213 yr ^ i was just wondering if anyone knew of other buildings that kind of look like city club. it seems to be a little bit of a trend for a certain level of developments to be colorful and have things sticking out weirdly like windows and balconies. i can only assume they want to attract zoomers with colorful quirkiness.
December 21, 20213 yr The construction site plan that completely blocks the sidewalk and the traffic lane seems like it's going to result in a big mess. Edited December 21, 20213 yr by jws

Let's be honest, there is no good reason to drive on Euclid Ave. The only way you should down that road is by bus, bike or walking

I bike to work via Euclid and right now and my main thought is how they've created a setup that is inefficient (for the HealthLine) at best and dangerous for bikers and pedestrians at its worst. They've periodically been doing the same thing with the construction in Midtown, too. Edited December 22, 20213 yr by jws

December 27, 20213 yr Probably not a surprise at this point, but GIS has been updated with the property transfer. Guess that makes it official-er.

Just a little inside baseball: the property/transfer data is updated nightly whereas the GIS is typically updated weekly. So, if a property is transferred and there's no linework changes (or parcel number changes) you should see it pretty much the next day if things are operating on all cylinders. We're working on making the GIS part of things a nightly process but that's still a ways out.
December 27, 20213 yr Author Why is there no listing or documents for this parcel number or the principals involved showing up on the property site? "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

Sorry if I'm misconstruing the q, but when Myplace isn't showing all documents it's always worth searching the AFN in the Recorded Document Search site: https://fiscalofficer.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/RecordedDocumentsServices.aspx. Just did a quick search and it looks like the plat and some correspondence was uploaded.
December 28, 20213 yr I walked by here today around mmmm lets say noon. Sidewalk blocked off. Lane of traffic blocked off. Not one bit of evidence anything is happening. Parking lot looks intact minus one bollard knocked overSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
December 28, 20213 yr ^Yeah, nothings happened since the 23rd. I’m guessing they’ll start in earnest on Jan 3rd. There was a guy with a theodolite there this afternoon. My hovercraft is full of eels
December 28, 20213 yr I hope this project motivates the owner of the original City Club building to renovate. I did some work in there a few years ago and its ridiculous how far they’ve let that place go. Also, whatever restaurant was in there in 2019 I sincerely hope closed. We did work in the morning and the last night’s kitchen was a wreck. Food everywhere, dishes everywhere… but it did fit in nicely with the general atmosphere of the building so maybe its all on point.
January 4, 20223 yr Die surface lot! Hipp hooray! (See what I did there?) p My hovercraft is full of eels
January 4, 20223 yr I’ll one up you … okay six up - from the sixth floor of the parking garage. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 4, 20223 yr Wow that’s awesome and that residential tower is going to bring some vibrant energy to the area. Bye bye parking lot
January 4, 20223 yr Seems like all they do is take out trees in this City. Just kidding, I'll gladly lose a few trees for construction of this new tower as the trees can be replaced when the project is done. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
January 4, 20223 yr Seems strange that they're delivering manholes, and several of them, to the site of a residential tower. I really hope the lot isn't being used to stage materials for a sewer project on Euclid, and this is the start of the project.

January 4, 20223 yr ^They would tie into the existing sewer. IDK, just thought its odd that they would stage precast concrete structures prior to stripping the existing asphalt parking lot if they were planning to excavate for sewers.

January 5, 20223 yr Author I recall someone here on UO spoke to the construction crews last March (or so) who said the tower crane would be installed on the sidewalk. They were a good source. This is from this Friday's PC agenda... ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVALS 1. Ordinance No. 1147-2021(Ward 3/Councilmember McCormack): Authorizing the Director of Capital Projects to issue a permit to CCA CBD Cleveland, LLC, 328 S. Jefferson Street, Suite 570, Chicago, IL 60661 to encroach into the public right-of-way of Euclid Avenue by installing and using approximately twelve (12) micropiles as necessary subsurface support for the foundation for the tower crane to be used in the construction of the City Club Apartments project at 776 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114. Hopefully whatever damage is done to the sidewalk is fixed correctly when they are done. The patch job done in front of the Beacon is ugly and embarrassing. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk
January 12, 20223 yr Not much of an update but there was a concrete pour in the northeast corner of the site. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 12, 20223 yr Sure are enough manhole structures. That could fill up a Walmart parking lot! https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
January 12, 20223 yr Being that this building will be utilizing the existing garage for parking, this could be like SHW and go up quick without a basement, or need to dig out a “bathtub”.
January 17, 20223 yr I saw that the ceremonial groundbreaking occurred on December 10, 2021, kicking off at the site of a new 23-story mixed-use building in Cleveland known as City Club Apartments. That was five weeks ago. Is the crane base in place yet?

January 20, 20223 yr Didn't have time to go onto the parking garage, but parking lot is up and they're digging in the dirt now...

All of those windows on the west side of The City Club Building! I assume that you can currently see all the way to Public Square. That will be changing soon!
January 20, 20223 yr ^ Veering OT here, but the City Club Building is a real mess and has a pretty-much absentee landlord. I know someone who worked in the kitchens there in the 80s and it was overrun with roaches and vermin and I understand it’s no better 40 years on. I toured the Schofield a few years ago and they kept apologizing for the state of their neighbor and that they’d tried to get the landlord to make it presentable, but to no avail. I’m really hoping this new development spurs something positive for it. Maybe having some clients have a less than stellar view might catalyze some improvements. My hovercraft is full of eels
January 20, 20223 yr Yeah this construction site is definitely missing something... something that I can't quite put my finger on, maybe something at street level around the fencing. Something that shouts, "Hey! This site is the future home of something... something spectacular!" I wonder... But very glad to see construction moving 😀
January 31, 20223 yr They've been doing sitework/excavation every day. Also some significant utilties or gas line work at E9th/Euclid that may be related to the project. Edited January 31, 20223 yr by sizzlinbeef
