That concrete looks so new l thought it was freshly poured. So more to come on the base? Too bad. I was hoping to see something going upward soon.

The CM promised to tell me when their tower crane is due to arrive. Hopefully it's soon.

My son is working for the electrical contactor.  He's in these pics lol.  They are mapping out electrical plan on the concrete floor.  The rebar framing will start soon for the massive concrete pad.

So will there be another pad on top of this pad?

Yes...a massive pad.  what you see now is just a skim coat so they can work

Thank you

i’ve never seen anything like that before — very interesting.  👍

My son was explaining it to me....They have to let the crews installing the rebar ( for the concrete pad) know where the electrical conduit will run so the rebar doesnt get in the way.

Yeah, I’m confused too. Why don’t they just run the actual pipes right now so they don’t have to cut out the concrete? Seems pretty common practice.

The plumbing and electrical conduit is run through the rebar before the concrete is poured. Knowing where it will be ahead of time let's them leave room for the pipes and reinforce the areas around it. Then its all buried in concrete on pour day.

Dead 💀💀💀 lmao

Wasn't the purpose of marking the electric and plumbing conduit runs so the rebar wouldn't interfere with them? I'm confused on the rebar placement.

I think that's just the bottom of the 'cage' so to speak.

Lumen for reference:

At the Lumen, yes. City Club hasn't made any announcements about when the crane will be delivered to their site.

Two cranes, coming right up
By Ken Prendergast / July 11, 2022

While work has started on installing the tower crane at Sherwin-Williams’ (SHW) headquarters construction site, the timetable has been set for the next crane to rise in downtown Cleveland. That second crane will appear at the work site for the City Club Apartments near the end of August, according a spokesman for Cleveland Construction Inc. Tower cranes are considered by some to be a visual indicator of a city’s economic growth.

To supply that much concrete will require a steady stream of roughly 260 trucks

I wonder how this compares to The Lumen. I remember driving by there that day and they also had truck after truck pouring nonstop. It seems wild how the construction industry can pull off logistics like this.

Gotta admit I’m looking forward to some of those Cleveland skyline shots during Browns season - it’s going to be a super positive look for the city as those towers start rising.

Probably better than what you'll be seeing on the field.

There isn't much better than seeing two cranes in prominent gaps downtown. I'm looking forward to seeing both rise from this vantage point. (7-9-22)

that would be pretty damn cool to watch a caravan of cement trucks down Euclid in the middle of the night. UO meetup at the private parking lounge? I'll bring the cooler of beer

The neighboring City Club building looks as dirty as it gets.  It really needs to be spruced up bad!

The quiet before the storm!

Will the tower crane be within the perimeter of the building or on the exterior of the building?

@dski44 If I remember from last year when the city was making sewer improvements on Euclid in preparation for the new apartment tower, one or more crewmembers said they were also reinforcing the sidewalk for the tower crane. So if that crewmember was right, that's where it's going.
