You wouldn't catch me in a room like that unless I had a sledgehammer in my hands. What did they get that from? American freight? To wait a while, ok, that's one thing. To wait a while for something that looks like a 1970s smelly apartment - yeah, no.

Big value add comment.

As someone who aspires to live downtown someday (probably once I'm an empty-nester), I applaud you, @GREGinPARMA.   Underwhelming decor/fixtures aside, I hope your experience is a good one and look forward to hearing about it.

People living in a 250 sq ft apt in Manhattan will tell you the same--you're not supposed to spend much time at home.

20 years ago I moved post-divorce into the Statler.   I thought the same about the fixtures etc, but lived it up outside those walls.   I hope that everyone moving into the City Club 2024 goes out and has as much fun as I did.    Go forth and make downtown Cleveland a community!

Preach, I lived in the Statler 10 years ago and it was a bit dated, but those 3 years living downtown were terrible for my physical health but amazing for my mental/social health.

I am glad someone else called out her boots.

Seriously underwhelming on the inside.  The finishes are not what I would have expected with this building, but it seems like the amenities will be an added plus for this part of downtown.

I will be amazed if they finish construction in April.  There is a lot to be done

Totally agree with all of you. Especially in person, it was very underwhelming.
But in all honesty, it was the amenities of the building and its location that really sold it for me. I went into this knowing it was just temporary and whatever time I did spend in my apartment would basically be sleeping and watching TV lol i’m a very low maintenance guy.

But I am in no way defending their rooms, especially the cheapest studio I went with. I immediately walked into it and thought “welp, thank god there’s so much to do out there”

And everyone is still invited for drinks on the rooftop. Just don’t expect an invite to check out the room, I’d be a little nervous trying to fit more than one person in there emoji28.png

Exactly my sentiment. The amenities and location are why I signed on. Right next to CVS, Heinens, coffee shops, a gym, Jacobs' Field, The Gund, and Playhouse Square. I lived in the Flats at East Bank when it opened, which was really cool, but the immediate amenities were bars and restaurants only.

The finishes in that building were equally disappointing. I really hope it looks all better once it's completed at City Club, but my first thought walking into the rooms was disappointment. However, I as well plan to spend little time in the room.

I also got a studio, and having a murphy bed is a really cool use of space and a unique option that I'm not sure is available anywhere downtown.

And yes, drinks on the roof will be really since the roof is not open to the public. I asked about that and they said the rooftop is expected to be completed in July. That is very disappointing as well, because that might be the top amenity of the building and having it open on Memorial Day would have been nice.

With the renovations to Progressive Field - will the roof top have any of the field of play in its vision? Would be an amazing spot for a fireworks night, nonetheless.

I'm laughing so hard right now. I am not offended in any way, but the lady with the boots is my girlfriend. You wouldn't believe how she CONSTANTLY gets compliments about those boots. Fashion is in the eye of the beholder, much like construction design.

Good question and I have no idea.

@Milkshake1  Which unit did you go with? It appears there were different appliance options and kitchen cabinetry in their brochure. I would be interested in how they stage these as rental models

Won't be having many dinner parties with this setup hah

The quality of the meal depends more on the cook than the stove.   A leasee-provided slow cooker would add lots of possibilites.

This building was VE’d into existence, so I suppose I’m grateful for that. I believe one of Ken’s articles stated that being the case.

how funny -- i just bought a small 2qt slow cooker and have used it once for a veggie curry stew -- so can confirm!  👍😂

- Count me in as a fan of the boots! Her boots are gonna walk all over you 🎶

- The underwhelming look and feel of the apartments doesn’t surprise me at all. Having lived in South Florida from 2004 to 2022, I have experience seeing even worse than that.

- And the reality is that if you are “doing it right” you should not be spending much time beyond sleeping inside your apartment.

- Having lived in FL, I didn't spend much time inside either. But not being a cold weather fan, I spend much more time indoors living in OH.

I went with the smallest possible unit, which the agent said was very similar to the studio unit shown above. When it's finished, a Murphy bed will be installed, with a chaise lounge right next it. Hopefully that will make the entire unit look better.

I also picked a Euclid facing unit. No balcony.

Former Statler residents unite!

I’m not sure if the finishes across the types of units will be the same, but I very much prefer the look and style of the studio kitchen vs the one bedroom in those pictures.

^ on the positive — that right there is no small thing.

in fact out here in ny land its such a rare big deal my spouse tells people, “we bought a washer/dryer with an apt around it.” 🎉😂

Agree that these finishings ain't it. Definitely can find better appointed apartments downtown. Are these going for a more competitive price point? If so, that would make more sense.

Wonder how the finishes/spaces compare to City Clubs elsewhere?

This video from City Club Detroit is filmed in one of the rooms staged as a open house amenities presentation. If you look past the presentation you can sort of see the standard finishes.

Click on "Virtual Tour", then "Amenities Tour"

TBH, it looks marginally better than the photos we've seen from City Club CLE. The set decorations cover up a lot of the base finishes though (wow, big surprise!).

They most certainly are not. I think around $2.50 a square foot. Some even $3. I think the only comparable price point downtown is Beacon and Lumen.

Thanks for sharing the interior photos - yeah, can't say they ooze ultra-luxury but I don't think that's the vibe behind this anyway. As far as the armchair fashion critics - pray tell, are you typing your comments from your desk next to the closet full of Kohls and Stein Mart clearance bin apparel?

You know what, that's a good point. Honestly, if I had the option to have more luxurious finishes, but it increased the cost of the unit, I would decline the finishes. I picked this building for location and amenities.

That being said, for the price point I would have hoped for better finishes, but the reality is, it would come with an additional cost.

IMG_1845.thumb.jpeg.9ccb245f1825b7f2fe43cd55f525485e.jpegFrom a layman’s perspective it would appear there are still finishing touches needed as well.

Nope... turns out you can get great stuff cheap. And there's always bulk deals with buildings such as these with significant discounts (sometimes more than 50%). Character matters.

You do realize I was specifically referring to the (very clearly) heterosexual males scoffing at a female’s choice of footwear, and not the building finishes? Good lord, have none of you met a GenX Gold Star Gay? 🌈:classic_huh:

Unfair comment. There’s also a Goodfellow and Co. fleece in that closet.

Yes! Please discuss...I must know why this sliding mirror exists.

Why do the floor plans actually say "sexy bathroom"?  That's weird, no?

Yes very strange but I think the idea behind it is to let natural light into the bathroom and help diffuse steam build up when you are alone.  This might be stereotyping on my part, but I always thought people who have studios are not big into home entertaining given the space is usually smaller and the bed often takes center stage in the unit.  It is their alone space mainly for sleeping and showering and life is lived out side in the city.

Oof, these finishes are horrible...I love seeing new highrise residential, but damn, these are bad.

One of the worst new construction finishes I’ve seen. Developers are now just slapping projects together with the cheapest of everything and charging luxury prices. An embarrassment.

Looking at the floor plans closer, I could definitely see hosting friends. As a studio dweller of many years, I am familiar with many creative ways to hide a bed. Screens, cube shelves, curtains on wire. The options are limitless and really stretch your creative vision 😂

It looks like rent starts at $1200 for a studio? That seems pretty reasonable for the location. I had an apartment in Lakewood years ago that’s kitchen counter was covered in linoleum floor tiles for durability I guess. $650 a month in 2005!

I still think it’s unfortunate there is no stove or normal sized sink. Even studio dwellers like to cook!

I think that bathroom sliding window should be  called "And Here's Johnny" ;)

It’s for when you’re going #2 and get really thirsty. You slide it open and yell “Beer me, guys, I’m poopin’!” Then one of your buddies tosses you a cold one.

I like it. It allows for a tiny studio to feel a little bit larger. If it was permanently open, that would be a non starter, but the option to have it closed makes the unit slightly more versatile.

The leasing agent said it's called a "sexy bathroom" because of the 10 inch shower head. I'm not kidding.

I mean, I guess I'm used to a 4 or 5 inch shower head. 😏

Edited by Milkshake1

This sort of reminds me of looking through the porthole into the dining room when I’m using the urinal at the Mellow Mushroom in Rocky River.  Something about it just seems wrong.

nobody needs 10 inches of (shower) head. 😇
