Wasn't an order, more of an apology up front for not knowing which thread it belonged in. My deepest and sincerest apology your honor

No worries, and of course the forum offers a search function at the top of the page to help you find the appropriate thread on your own.  For example, searching "Cleveland Convention News" brought up the thread I directed you towards.

Was waiting at the light and had a perfect view for a quick pic. Building is looking good and I love being able to walk on both sides of Euclid again!

Anyone know if the exterior is finally finished?

I think it might still be happening. There is now Dogtopia signage in the Eastern retail space and they have begun working on the space.

Man that is a LOT for just string lights. I know it's unrealistic to think it'd be for like public seating but phew, overkill and frankly kind of ugly.

Part of me wishes they could've utilized the side alley for seating/patio's. It wouldn't be possible though due to the parking garage letting out there though.

I like the look. It looks better at night as it really lights up the street. Notice how the lights just underneath the front entrance are not yet installed.

It really does look nice at night, and this entire block has been majorly energized and freshened up. Can't wait to see it once the remaining landscaping, seating and restaurant patios are all completed and installed / being used. Way better than Marie's parking lot!! 😉

I was going to ask, it makes a lot more sense w/a patio out front. Right now it just kind of looks awkward. Thanks Ian!

Looking at lights on in the bottom 10 floors at night, rentals must be going fairly well.

^ One of those … “I wonder what city that is” at first glance.

Yea from the back it's nowhere near finished.

Life is complete

I wasn't sure if it was the same dog as expected or not - but it looks close enough per what was shown as approved in an earlier thread.  I am sure someone will go and measure it for us in place (so we know the dog wasn't also value-engineered like Bridgeworks🤣).

The Bean also looks stupid. Sometimes weird things are fun and spark interest.

I could probably critique this sculpture on the margins, but who cares? I'm thrilled to see Cleveland getting more representational public art. It's something for people to stop on the street and look at that's not ugly or stupid. Fantastic! There's a lot of existing public art in this City that I can't say even that much about. It's a nice sculpture that adds to the streetscape, it doesn't need to be museum quality to make our City better. More of this please.

Couldn't agree more, well said. It will be something people will stop to take a picture with

Would be cool to move that CVS sign and do a mural there.

And also a mural on the side of 668.

To clarify, I wasn't saying the sculpture looked stupid, just the ear lying on the side of the dog's head. Yay for more public art!

wiil be a great meet up spot for people to find easily. Hopefully the surface cleans easily from the eventual graffiti or political tagging that will lkely happen at some point -if not they should apply such a coating preemptively. Welcome ot the big city!

I for one, love the statue, but would have preferred the ears either match or not be so drastically different!  But overall, accept it as is!

Surely they know and expect it to be covered in graffiti and stickers?

How about Van Gogh?

I vote for "Marie" since her name was always referenced on the old lot sign

I second this

According to Dogtopia's Instagram, they're calling the sculpture "Scruffy."

New landscaping and plants are going into the patio spaces now. This is really looking amazing!! More of this all over downtown please!!

Look at those new tree too!! More of that please :)

I love they way "Scruffy" has been detailed! Kudos whomever did that. I do wonder why the street lamp posts aren't the same ones that line downtowns Euclid Ave.  Does anyone know if the city is planning to update all of the others to match?

I wish we could somehow incentivize, or encourage downtown business owners to church up their sidewalk frontage. This is fantastic, anything in front of Bedrock property is great, the sidewalk in front of Potbelly’s is the best. But then we have huge dead zones like in front of 5 Iron.

I hope the smaller urns are weighted down or cemented in as they may not survive the Cle winds or theft overnight by an aspiring entrepreneur

I for one love the street presence this has. The vibrancy of the building already stands out from the rest of the street, but now add in the vibrant green plants/tree's and the string lights, this area POPS now. I feel we couldn't have asked for a better building, especially from street level, to replace the drab parking lot that was there for so long.

We should take up a collection to get a historical plaque for Marie and the parking lot. Never forget!

Along with this new streetscape, I would love if the PNC plaza could go back to looking like it did during the Superman filming. Just some umbrellas and seating would be great.

What a 10-15 years E9 and Euclid has had. It went from the intersection where our 2 main streets meet somehow feeling like a complete deadzone, to The 9, Euclid Grand, Heinens, Schofield, and this building. The last piece of the puzzle, if Centennial ever gets sorted out, can add 750-1000 people to this intersection along with some beautiful commercial space in their old lobby. Then you have the Athlon, Halle, Guardian, Beacon, Garfield, and Fidelity Hotel right next door. There is no reason this area shouldn't have even more foot traffic, but there really isn't much for the local residents to walk to in the immediate area. There aren't really any spaces to just sit and hang out. A lot of Downtown still caters to the suburban and hotel customer. At some point we have to see a shift with the Downtown population growth. We just need a few businesses to be brave.

I dream of Euclid being transit(TIF circulator streetcar and healthline rail please) and pedestrian only from Public Square to E9, maybe even E17, but there is 0 chance that happens. With Heinens, both arcades, Marble Room, Tower City, Playhouse Square, Centennial's lobby, and a few other spots, this could once again be one of the most beautiful commercial districts in North America. But we need business and political leadership to make bold moves, in a time when no big city politicians in this country seem willing to do so.
