If I were to ever move downtown, I would because of this roof deck. That sweeping westward view of the lake is gold. The best sunsets anywhere.

More than happy to take anyone on a tour this friday or next week. Let me know!

Are these apartments income restricted or is this a mixed income development.

Hi, if this is your project or a project your involved in can you please get the construction crew to put up a protected pedestrian walk way on the east side of East 9th st. Forcing people to walk in the street is super unsafe.

Truly one of the most underrated buildings in Downton Cleveland.  I am glad to see new life to it.

When is this project expected to finish

March/April 2024

I tell you what, those particular lake views really separate this building from a lot of the other downtown conversions.

And those lake views will look much better on a sunny day.

The Bell to ring people home in 2024
By Ken Prendergast / October 21, 2023

At first, construction work at The Bell has a familiar ring to it. But this isn’t the usual conversion of a zombie office building in downtown Cleveland into residential or hotel uses. Instead, conversion of the former Ohio Bell Company headquarters, ongoing since July 2022, has been a different calling. What were once large, wide-open floors at the 16-story, 40-year-old office building have since been divided up into an average of 31 apartments per floor in the residential portions of the building at the southeast corner of Lakeside Avenue and East 9th Street.

It looks like the wall art sculpture is still there in the lobby, which I am happy about! Does anyone know if Bell/AT&T still own it? Ohio Bell probably commissioned it. I stated in a earlier post Willis Tower lost a large colorful whirlygig sculpture similar to this not so long ago after a lawsuit by Sears Holdings.

Any retail/food tenants lined up?

I'm definitely interested!

Unfortunately, the developer nixed a few tenants that were lined up for the building, not sure why though. Also, still hasn't started pre-leasing for some reason. I'm only on the construction team

I would love to take a tour!!!

That’s strange, I wonder what could be so serious that they nixed them.

Ownership stake in The Bell to be auctioned off

By Ken Prendergast / June 18, 2024

With a certificate of occupancy in hand and leasing to start in two weeks, The Bell, 45 E. 9th St. in Downtown Cleveland, will be the subject of an online auction scheduled for next month. The auction is intended to make available a portion of the interest in a general partnership that owns the office-turned-residential building.

Great economy?  Sarcasm I presume.

I am surprised to see this as the building was almost done.  Wow.

No, the economy is booming with jobs and incomes rising faster than inflation. Discuss here:

And The Bell is the only one of these properties that's gotten within a whisker of opening. And it will, but under somebody else's ownership.

Although the auction offering was titled as a foreclosure, the managing member of the partnership assured me it was not. So I reworded the piece.

If anything is the opposite of “Only in Cleveland”,  this is it.

The many Real Deal articles, as well as @KJP‘s work, make that abundantly clear

Has Kenny Wolfe pivoted into a pitfall?

“The fallout happened so fast, you might think you’re reading the dates wrong.

In April 2023, Kenny Wolfe bought a blue-hued office building in downtown Dallas to redevelop it into high-end apartments.

Wolfe announced the plans for 211 North Ervay in a now-unavailable YouTube video, a move Dallas Culture Mapstamped as “so very 2023.”

A more appropriate characterization might have been “so very syndicator.””

Hopefully with this project being basically move-in ready,

it’ll be a small footnote for the trajectory of the redevelopment.

The Economy isn't the issue here. Kenny Wolfe, and only Kenny Wolfe are the problem. I worked on the construction team for this project, and let me tell you... The development team with Wolfe Investments and Bluelofts running the show was a complete s**t show.

I'm loving this signage. Is it actually up yet though?

Looks like they have an advertisement on Apartments.com.  No rental rates are quoted.  You need to call.

1 hour ago, Go CLE said:

You can see the rates on the Floor Plans page of https://www.thebellapts.com/

Those aren't bad prices at all.
