Metro Development starts work on 500-unit apartment complex in south Columbus

 

Metro Development has started work on a $65 million apartment development that will have over 500 units.

 

The development will split the 504 units between 21 buildings on about 24 acres at 5656 Bixby Road in Columbus, Joe Thomas, director of development for Metro Development, told me.

 

Metro Development closed on the $4.6 million deal for the land last week, Thomas said. Sheeran Semon Team of NAI Ohio Equities represented the sellers in the deal.

Wonder how their development timeline is going to line up with the ODOT Bixby interchange which I didn't think was even a possibility until 2026 or later. Adding 500 units in that location with the current at-grade access to 33 is going to make this an absolute nightmare. No access to 33 SE going out, and access in from 33 NW is going to require turning across two lanes of highway traffic that doesn't have a signal for at least six miles in either direction. Real "may the odds be ever in your favor" energy trying to cross there.

Leasing begins for southeast Columbus residential development

 

Leasing is set to begin this week at Fieldstone Cottages, a 40-home community developed by Homeport in southeast Columbus.

 

The cottage-style community is an expansion of Fieldstone Court, the developer's adjacent 48-apartment site.

 

Located at 2870 Alum Creek Dr., the development includes one-and two-bedroom cottages with attached garages. Amenities include a community room, a fitness room, walking paths and outdoor seating areas.
