Posted June 2, 20223 yr Although was not the best day for pictures, I really enjoyed taking in the architectural treasure trove of this city. Easily one of the most aesthetically underrated cities in the country. June 2, 20223 yr Easily one of the best state capitals and state capitols in the country. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 2, 20223 yr Great pics! One of my best friends moved there from Ohio. I've taken the train to visit him a couple of times. I might join him permanently there to enjoy the urbanism, sane politics, low gun ownership rates, and of course the train services. June 2, 20223 yr nice work and nice to see albany -- ah, those albany tales. -- ironweed, by william kennedy
June 8, 20223 yr I don't know what I expected (from albany) but it wasn't as good as this. Nice shots, and that manequin in the tuxedo store haunts me.
June 8, 20223 yr These are great - thanks! Albany was one of ten largest US cities in the early 19th Century, when the first steamboat line in the world was established from New York City, and the opening of the Erie Canal. I learned recently that the Hudson River is actually an estuary all the way to Albany, meaning the river rises with the tides all the way up there. Albany was probably the first large inland city (maybe Charlotte too, as a gold mining city), before Cincinnati and Louisville also boomed during the steamboat (pre-railroad) era. June 9, 20223 yr ^I believe the Bronx River is an actual river. But your point still stands that basically the "rivers" in NYC aren't actual rivers. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
