It's strange to think about how the world's population has exploded, and yet there seems to be so many places in America that look empty like this.

Also the dog looks like Mindy, my sweet old Norwegian Elkhound.

^It appears that an additional floor was added when the entablature was removed.

The building, now known as the Fischer Building, also appears to have lost the grand archway over its entrance as well.

I visited Dubuque back in 2021, after a night stay in Galena.  It was a nice, quiet town.

Funny. I drove through (and stopped for 30 minutes for photographs) Dubuque last month.

Dubuque could really benefit from some street trees.

It’s been replaced recently, but just downriver was the Savanna-Sabula bridge, which was probably the scariest Mississippi River crossing.

“To an Ohio resident - wherever he lives - some other part of his state seems unreal.”

Dubuque is well worth a visit. Especially If you have time to squeeze in Galena too.

They were claiming to have more millionaires per capita than any other city in America at one point in time.  I didnt check out their claims, but I do remember that tid bit of info.

Also,

The Mississippi River museum is pretty interesting and large. It took the better part of an afternoon to check it all out.

Only been there the one time for a short visit on business (a certain tractor company!) and found it to be a hundred times more interesting than any of the the ‘Quad Cities’ further south.
