February 9, 20232 yr Nashville has a very underrated historic core (certainly for the South). Tennessee in general does a great job with their downtowns (Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, even Gatlinburg...). Thank you. Plus, it's @Lazarus's favorite city! February 9, 20232 yr Part of the skyline always reminds me of this movie with Tom Selleck and Jerry Reed from 1981 where they drive around town in a Corvette and solve a murder while doing stunts in the car. It is literally 50-50 Smokey and the Bandit and Magnum P.I.

I mean, Nashville didn't have a skyline back then. Several years ago I watched an outstanding documentary on Dylan's Nashville years that single-handedly attributed the later centering of the music industry around Nashville to Bob Dylan, since he started the wave of rock and pop musicians choosing to record with Nashville-area sessions players to switch up their sound after recording several albums in New York or LA. Rock/pop people also recorded with the sessions players in Memphis and Muscle Shoals, but to a lesser extent.
February 9, 20232 yr I wonder if it also had to do with taxes, sorta like how Metallica did most of their good records in Denmark for tax purposes.
February 9, 20232 yr Are they ever going to put up a permanent fence along Broadway? They've had that temporary fencing up for years and it looks trashy. “To an Ohio resident - wherever he lives - some other part of his state seems unreal.”
