Columbus gets snow, but not as much as Cleveland.  It's almost a different climate down here than it is two hours north.  We're out of range of the lake-effect snow and only end up with a few inches each year.

As far as the temps, I'd say that we hit single-digits for about 1 week every year.

What does Cleveland snow have to do with employment in Marysville?!?

She asked about snowfall in Columbus.

I used Cleveland as a point of reference since most people know that they get alot.

I'm sorry that wasn't clear enough for you.

Works for me! So what are your summers like?

Summer's are really nice. June will usually hang out in the upper seventies, lower eighties. July and August are pretty reliably in the mid eighties with at least one stretch of four or five consecutive days in the ninties. Every now and then, we flirt with a hundred. Usually not too much rain, but when it comes through on a hot afternoon, the thunderstorms can be pretty impressive and we'll get our fair share of tornadoes-but that's everywhere in the Midwest, pretty much.

Although I've never done it myself, I hear the scuba diving in Lake Erie by the islands is actually pretty good. Something to do with the shallowness of the lake or something. Just an idea if it gets too hot and you want to check out America's "North Coast."

NorthernGirl,

I moved to Columbus from Georgia about a year ago.  I certainly have not regretted it one bit.  It is one of the best decisions that I have made in my life.  If I had to do it over again, I would have come much sooner.

I lived in Hilliard for about 8 months before settling in Eastern Columbus (between the Bexley and Berwick area).  I love the energy of Eastern Columbus.  Hilliard and the Northern suburbs simply lacked the energy that I craved.  Way too quiet and reserved.  Upper Arlington was ok (if I had to choose) except that it was way too impersonal.  I am a Southerner, born and bred, and I need daily human contact and intense social interactions.  Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Dublin simply lacked this amenity.  I do hope that your relocation here works out for you as it has for me.  The low cost of living, competitive salaries, and ease of living is something that I never experienced while living in metro-Atlanta.

May GOD bless you and your family as you make this transition.

Thanks so much, Columbus girl! Especially for the blessing. A lot of prayer is definitely involved in this decision.

It would be so ironic for us to move to Hilliard, and my side of the family would get a great big kick out of it if we did, because Hilliard is my maiden name! I think for that reason alone my husband would refuse to make Hilliard our home.

We are leaning strongly toward Dublin at this point, but no firm decision has been made. My husband is in town right now and says he really likes the area. This is his first visit. I forgot to send the digital camera along with him though

Considering how cloudy, rainy, and plain ol' dreary it's been here lately it might not be such a bad thing that he forgot to pack the camera.

LOL! We have the same cloudy, rainy miserable doo-doo here in the land of cheddar.

Update: Final interview was excelent, and Hubby really liked the area. Crossing our fingers...
