Will the streetscapes on Erie and Bolivar that front this be getting a makeover? Bolivar especially could use some trees. @zbaris87

It looks, according to @KJParticle in Feb, that some nice looking trees are planned for at least Bolivar.

It looks like those are in planter boxes? That seems unnecessary and bad in this instance. (It's understandable near Tower City where everything is literally a bridge). There aught to be plenty of space to plant tall trees into the ground where the roots can expand. Hopefully these don't end up being planter box trees, nice trees would do a lot for this street. There's little to no greenery there right now.

Construction fencing now up as of yesterday.

Seeds & Sprouts XXX – Apartments at Bolivar starting, Slavic Village school site reuse, Glenville apartment to get reno
By Ken Prendergast / July 17, 2023

In downtown Cleveland, the Apartments at Bolivar are scheduled to break ground by the end of the month after demolition work. Reuse of Fullerton School site in Slavic Village is in works. And a Glenville apartment building is proposed to be renovated.

It will be interesting to see how residents utilize the nearby cemetery as greenspace. Its so easy to pass by without thinking, but its the only oasis in this part of downtown. Perhaps the moribund among us might see this as an amenity lol.

In other words, the coffee-sipping goths?

Or coffee-goths, for short.

I would love it if this development was the cause of some more attention and love to the downtown cemetery. I think if it were beautified a bit it could be a nice amenity for downtown residents to use respectfully. This was discussed a bit in the downtown parks and public space thread.

Demo is making good progress.

That came down fast.

Sure is nice to have another development to follow.

The “Which Project Will Be Next and Why?” thread has been quiet for about a year.  It may be time to revive that conversation, too.

Groundbreaking for the apartments at Bolivar is scheduled for Wednesday morning. I'll be posting pics afterwards

Hopefully KJP renames this thread.

Anyone know when they expect to open?

Fall of 2024?

@zbaris87 do you know which type of crane will be used when this baby is ready to get vertical?

No tower crane will be used for this project, unfortunately. Just a standard one for a low to mid rise.

yeah, knock it down! KNOCK IT DOOWWWN! LETS GO!!!

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on more development in the vicinity.

  • KJP changed the title to Cleveland: Downtown: Ten60 Bolivar Apartments

I really wish they’d reconsider that name.  Every time I see that mashup of letters and numbers I want to clench my teeth.  What’s wrong with TenSixty?  Or 1060?

Yeah, the name is trying too hard - but - Great to see this project starting -

it’s exactly what we need - another attractive new- build option for more residents.  Hopefully, the trend of more  residents downtown just keeps going…

Who doesn't like quiet neighbors?

When I lived in Little Italy in my 20's, my bedroom overlooked the wall at Lakeview.  It was so peaceful.  Barely a peep was heard.

It can get a little noisy with all that coffin.

I was just in Seattle and Portland last week.  I've seen it first hand...it's not that bad.

Walked past it last night after the baseball game but I didn't think to take a photo. It just looks like a stripped down parking garage at the moment. Nothing much taking shape yet from what I saw.

Not much but a dirt lot, shot today

They started digging on the dirt portion this morning. Aside from that, a ton of utility work has been going on down East 9th street, not sure if it's in relation to this or Progressive Field upgrades.

^ wow, nice to see they are wasting no time here. and bonus it looks like there is old school uo-approved type world class signage. 😸👍

Use to walk down this street all the time. This project is going to liven up that street so much! Really good to have so close to the baseball stadium.

Is it just me, or is this moving pretty quick?

Are we getting a tower crane out of this one?

No tower crane on this one

We're just a bunch of junkies looking for our next tower crane fix
