The Grays Armory building/museum is wildly underappreciated. It's a gorgeous building, unfortunately it's rarely open to the public. Hopefully with a few more residents in the area this can get a bit more love and maybe more events/better hours.

Walked by it on the way to the guards game tonight and wow. Huge difference in the feeling of walking down that street. Used to live over there and walked that street plenty. Looking forward to it being more activated

Yeah and l didn't realize how close the two buildings are. Really connects that little bit of urban wasteland.

Was surprised we saw it from the freeway the other day. Impressive footprint from that view.  It fills a void that wasn’t obvious. If only Geis would have built as proposed on NY Spaghetti site that would further accelerate the connection there and to to PHSq. I thought Geus said it would be parking for only up to 5 years (10 years ago?) Didn’t they say to expect a development soon as they weren’t in the parking lot business? Did they sell it already? Hopefully to the developers next door who are succeeding mid-block. The corner of East 9 with views into Prigressive should be easy slam dunk.

surface parking is never "shortly temporary"

I thought the city had some regulation in place which prevented buildings from being razed for surface parking.

It would be up to the City to enforce any measures regarding accountability.

Yes, Geis still owns it. They're going to be demolishing that crappy little parking garage behind it. A surface lot will replace it "temporarily" so don't get too excited when you the garage getting demolished. It doesn't suggest anything except that the garage was in bad shape.

You’re right, I won’t get too excited since when they tore down the spaghetti house years ago that was supposed to be temporary as well.

Drove past this today and its as nice to see they repaved the road already!

Let’s get some pics….

KJP are you due for a follow-up interview with the Geis team to get status report on this and other projects of theirs? Would love to hear what they say. Especially with the improving economy and the fact they initially crowed this would not be parking lot for long. They kinda owe us reply for taking away that beloved building- vacant or not - and instead becoming mini-Kassouf parking lot barrons.

Guys, I urge you just to have a little patience when it comes to the New York Spaghetti House lot. Something will hopefully be brewing there shortly

I find it fascinating how different University Circle projects and Downtown projects are. When a project in University Circle project gets announced it is almost virtually guaranteed to be built at this point. Downtown on the other hand has a ton of speculation and finger crossing involved.

It seems like we hear that quite often about various potential developments.  But weeks, months and years go by and still nothing.

This. I feel the exact same way.

Ok, I elect myself to be the asshole.  Is it a skyline changing hotel?  Sorry @zbaris87 I just couldn't help myself.  In all fairness, I believe it is the first time I threw that line out.  And all you others...you know that is what your were thinking or at least wanted to taunt.😉

I absolutely thought the same thing, so thanks for asking. A simple yes or no if this is the site for it seems fair!

Nice use of vague general descriptions. Will it be before or after that skyline changing development?

Also while we are self-diagnosing our impatience with Haslam, Geis and the mirage of a sklyline changing hotel/condo...

Here are some ways you can learn to cultivate more patience:

  • Test your patience with smaller tasks.
  • Identify triggers.
  • Practice mindfulness.
  • Slow down.
  • Practice acceptance.

Not a hotel project on this site

New clue - thank you!  That leaves apartments, condos/mix, more Cuyahoga County offices, or maybe the tallest and narrowest IKEA?

Hopefully something tall enough to be visible from the home plate camera at Progressive Field.  🙂

I've wanted the Dolans to build another guardian statue out in center, or just start calling the fans the "9th guardian" or something like that since there are 8 guardians on the bridge and 9 players on a baseball field.

Now I want a 216 ft tall guardian that's a hotel or apartments on this site within perfect view of the home plate camera lol.

The first half of this is fantastic, and I'm right there with you!

The second half of this is ridiculous, and... I'm right there with you.

Good stuff. Lots of new residential product in that second picture.

They should bury those utility lines.

Yes, burying utility lines makes a big improvement to the neighborhood beauty.

If this development was built on a parking lot in the Warehouse District, we'd have construction progress pictures of it every week.

On the other hand, not having any progress pics since November suggests they haven't made significant progress to the exterior in more than two months.

I openly asked "what city is that?" when I first glanced at the first picture.

I would love a building like this to be built on the warehouse district lot it would be fit in perfectly.

This project will be a big boast for the southern-Gateway area.

It would be interesting to gauge the trajectory of filling in all the “gaps” downtown. How long is that going to take, and at what point does the growth become exponential?

That development is impressive in person. Drove past it on Saturday and really adds to that section of downtown.

Haven't seen the city from that location before. Love that density. Ten60 is a great addition and it really helps to close the dead spot between Gateway and Playhouse Square.
