Dave Whinham, co-founder of the Pro Volleyball Federation, said the Columbus community was a perfect choice thanks to its embrace of sports entertainment culture. "You have an attitude around here that people love to go to events," he said. "They love everything about that — the action itself, the food and beverage, the fan camaraderie, the rivals that get created. … If you give Columbus a try, Columbus will give you a try because they love events. If you entertain them you'll surely create a fan base." Columbus join Omaha, Nebraska; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Atlanta in the still-forming league. There will be between eight and 10 markets total. The way they keep talking about it, it sounds like it is a place specifically for the volleyball team. I have a feeling it won’t be in the downtown area, which will be a miss.

All the news reports out of Cincinnati talk about how they are working to bring the team to Omaha.

November 6, 20231 yr Author Columbus pro volleyball team releases 2024 schedule The city's new professional volleyball team will take the court at Nationwide Arena for the first time on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. That will be the team's third game, though; it starts its inaugural season on the road on Jan. 25 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The team will then travel to Orlando for a Feb. 16 game before its first home match. The Pro Volleyball Federation recently released the full schedule for the 2024 season, its first. Seven teams will face each other between January and May. Following the regular season, the top four teams will compete for the championship May 16-19, with a location to be announced at a later date. The deal is the first sponsorship agreement announced by the new team. Its price tag was not disclosed. As part of the deal, Mount Carmel will be the presenting partner of the Fury's first season. With the Fury’s first home game came the first win in team history, beating the Omaha Supernovas in four sets (25-12, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23). “It was definitely very exciting,” Asjia O’Neal, the Fury’s first draft pick, said. “We knew people were coming, but we didn’t know how many people were going to show up. So it was really awesome to have the city riding behind us. The newly launched Pro Volleyball Federation, which includes the Columbus Fury, will have seven of its April and May matches air on the cable network.
