Well, one of the producers is originally from the Akron area - he moved to L.A. in the 70s but has made a few trips back and had a lot of praise for Cleveland, especially for downtown. Then again, he's a producer and not the writer so there's only so much control he can exert. They may be using one of my photos of the Cleveland skyline, so hopefully it does our fair city some justice :-)

Saturday night live skit from last night was said to be Cleveland Ohio 1904

Speaking of SNL, I was watching with the mister, and he thought the commercial for "Hot in Cleveland" was one of the fake SNL-produced ones.  It took me almost 5 minutes to convince him it was real, lol.

Betty White is smoking hot now so I am sure people will be tuning in.

If FaceBook was smart they would use her in Branding!

I'm surprised that SNL didn't do a Golden Girls or MTM skit.

^^They had a skit where they were singing the golden girls song.

She was the best as Sue Ann Nivens

I met Larry once in Cleveland and actually engaged in a brief sports conversation with him. His skin tone and hands creeped me out.  :-o

Cleveland Orchestra on PBS nationwide:

Cleveland Orchestra to be featured in public television broadcast

By Zachary Lewis, The Plain Dealer

June 08, 2010, 1:10PM

Get ready for more music from the Cleveland Orchestra over Independence Day weekend.

Two days after its annual performance on Public Square Thursday, July 1, the orchestra under music director Franz Welser-Most will be the focus of a special broadcast on public television.

The 90-minute program, recorded in high-definition September 2008 at Severance Hall, features Welser-Most and the orchestra performing Bruckner's Symphony No. 7. That performance has since been released on DVD.

I saw a "Hot in Cleveland" ad on the side of an RTA bus today.  It made me happy to see an ad not from a local company on the side of a bus.

I'm shocked I haven't seen this anywhere on this board, considering it's the first Cleveland championship in years!

I was browsing through the tv last night and on ESPN I caught a repeat of Friday nights 2010 Scripps Howard Spelling Bee Championship, and the winner, after about an hour of me cheering her on, was Anamika Veeramani, who goes to school in North Royalton.  We should all be proud of this young lady, cause she brings Ohio's total spelling bee championships to 9, the most of any state, and Ohio's first since the 60's.  During her ESPN profile, she implored Lebron to stay in Cleveland, so that was a nice bit of civic pride.

they're really pushing it in New York, the ads are all over buses and phone booths here.

^^yeah, I was surprised there was nothing here about it either, but congratulations to her (and I could be wrong, but as I recall, isn't N. Royalton DanB's hometown?)

`Hot in Cleveland': TV Land insists that new comedy series is a love letter to our fair city

Updated: Friday, June 11, 2010, 3:02 PM

Michael Norman, The Plain Dealer

The producers of TV Land’s new comedy series, “Hot in Cleveland," are going to great pains to assure us that they love our fair city. They even posted a valentine, “Things We Love About Cleveland,” on the TV Land blog, waxing rhapsodic about everything from Lebron James and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to the Great Lakes Brewing Company and the West Side Market.

"This show is going to end up being, I believe, a love letter to Cleveland," Valerie Bertinelli said during a telephone interview. "This is our way of paying homage to Cleveland. I've spent quite a bit of time in that area. I know it. And these women are discovering what people discover when they actually go to Cleveland -- what a great place it is."

EDIT: Is it just me, or is that skyline not Cleveland...??

^ Where? All I see are the cast members in a photo.

Oh, wait... I clicked and saw it... No, that is NOT Cleveland. Looks more like a Tampa.

Maybe we should send/sell them one of our stock of Cleveland Skyline photos...

Didn't they want some of Maydays photo's?

What skyline is that anyway?

how is that not Cleve? looks like it was taken from the south from the flats

The original picture was of Cinci.

There were quite a few posts calling out the picture.  All those post have been deleted and the picture changed.

I saw the new photo... Not a very flattering one in my opinion. I could have selected a much better photo than that from people who take photos on this forum.

The original photo was of Denver, not Cincy and it was only up for maybe an hour before they switched it. I can tell you it was Denver because you could clearly see Invesco Field, the Qwest building, along with the "Cash Register" building, and a few other Denver buildings that only a royal geek (like myself) would know. There are some things I will flub up in my life, but distinguishing the skylines of major American cities isn't going to be one of them. The new (aka correct photo) is indeed from the Flats from the south, specifically near the Columbus Road bridge.

The folks at 'Hot in Cleveland' had it changed very quickly after I put in a friendly phone call to the producer. Yes, they have asked and paid for the opportunity to use one of my images - as with any photo licensing contract, there is no guarantee they'll use that image - but I'm hoping that it will be appearing in the series. :-)

^ Awwhh!! I was going to guess Denver, but I never thought a mistake that way off could be possible!

I hope they change it again. The photo there now is not something I would use for a national TV show. I'd use more Edgewater views or maybe from the east or from Garfield Monument. That's just my preference, though...

I donate one of mine...  well of just T.T.

Was it Denver?  God, I need my eyes checked!

Technically, no, but I grew up there.  I can produce an official birth certificate showing my home town if necessary!

Fortunately, she's not a product of the North Royalton school system!

i'm seeing the hot in cleveland ads posted up all over the subways in ny. yay for keeping the cleve in people's face haha!

I want to thank so many people on this forum who have helped me, inspired me, and encouraged me as a photographer. I love taking photos of Cleveland, but to know that so many people are supportive of my geeky "hobby" is truly humbling.

I've been holding off making any official announcement until I saw it with my own eyes - after all, I'm an optimistic realist. I was contacted by the producers of 'Hot in Cleveland' several months ago, about using one of my photos for their show. It took a while, but contracts were signed, compensation arrangements were made, and I kept my fingers crossed. After all, part of the contract read "the producers are under no obligation to use this image, etc.".

Well, I attended a private "premiere party" for 'Hot In Cleveland' this evening and sure enough - the producers chose one of *my* photos to use as the opening title graphic. I never, ever imagined something like this happening and want to thank all of you who have paid my photo threads a compliment, or posted your own amazing photos that kicked me out of a rut, and I especially want to encourage others who just like to snap photos. You just never know :-)

Well done Mayday, congratulations.
