Katie Holmes security team worried about Scientologists: report

Last Updated: 9:25 PM, August 28, 2013

Katie Holmes security guards are concerned that Scientologists are spying on her and her daughter Suri a year after her divorce from Tom Cruise.

The actress’s bodyguards have been quizzing paparazzi to ensure they aren’t members of the controversial church she belonged to during her six year marriage to the “Oblivion” star, reports the Daily Mail.

According to the paper, a member of Holmes’ six-member security team approached photographers on the Cleveland set of the actress’s latest film, “Miss Meadows,” and asked if they had any connection to the church.

Once it was determined they did not, tensions eased and they were also asked to “keep our eyes open for anything suspicious and to report it,” one of the shutterbugs said.

Last year TMZ reported that mother and daughter were being followed by mysterious vehicles shortly after the split.

Holmes’ spokesperson denied the photographer's story.

Great, the church that Charles Mansion rejected as "too crazy" is stalking Katie in my town. Great...

Watched the 2010 Bruce Willis flick Red with the fiancee the other night (I have seen it several times - she has not), and notice for the first time the beginning scenes are all CLE related. Mostly noticeable through the winter street scene where the neighborhood has their garbage and recycle cans out the evening before garbage day like a good neighborhood should do ;)

^Correct.  The address on his mail is Parma Heights and the recycle bins by his mailbox say City of Cleveland.

Sounds like Hollywood-level accuracy to me! :o

Valerie Bertinelli was on the Today Show this morning promoting Hot in Cleveland.  When asked if she has any last minute summer vacation plans, she replied: "I going to Cleveland tomorrow to be in the town for the football game."

I presume she means the Browns on Sunday, but still fun to hear her give an unwarranted plug for the city.

Not sure if Sugarcreek is close enough to be considered "Cleveland," but a made for TV movie starring Kelly McGillis is starting shooting here in a few days, and they will be shooting for a month. A friend of mine is flying in from LA to work on the film.

That's great for her!  I saw her in "Love, Janis" at the Play House years ago and she was incredible, so can't say I'm surprised she's found her way to Broadway.

Expect Vanessa Bayer (Orange 2000) to be the dominant player on SNL this season!

mary bridget davies, the clevelander who plays janis joplin, is doing the show on broadway:

although the show itself got a bit of a mixed review (though leaning toward the good side), Mary Bridget Davies got raves--

"Ms. Davies, on the other hand, has captured the Joplin sound perfectly, and the show surges into high gear in the second act (though one would probably have been enough), as she churns through the gut-wrenching songs that made Joplin famous."

Can you spot the Shoreway in these scenes from the Captain America preview (and maybe even see the 2 1/2 weeks of traffic backups that resulted)?

It's also on YouTube where I captured this image. This is the portion of the bridge over West Third Street, looking west, with the National Terminals Apartments on the right (although its on the left side of the curving, elevated highway)......

Mighty fine trailer right here... in terms of seeing the city, that is:

Of course, but why would Scene post that preview when they have the chance to make a cheap slam at the city by posting the other 15 second one?

Lots of Cleveland!  Way less super imposed backdrops compared to Avengers as well.

Nice preview. Who's the bad guy?

How come the UK gets the cool preview?

While I'm happy for the filming location..... let me be the first to say 'echh'. Katherine Heigl is the female Kevin Costner.

To old farts like me, Katherine Heigl is still young, beautiful and relevant. Apparently there's some old farts at Channel 5 who agree with me!

Will Cleveland actually be Cleveland in this movie or is it serving as a placeholder for another city again?

Never knew the movie bad grandpa was shot partially in cleveland, it was pretty cool to see. Apparently 47% of the movie was shot in Ohio

"Ghostbusters 3" to Begin Filming in Cleveland in 2014

The next installment in the classic "Ghostbusters" franchise is scheduled to begin filming right here in Cleveland this spring. The Huffington Post reports that high caliber celebrities are being sought after for roles in "Ghostbusters 3." Hollywood darling Emma Stone and comedy king Jonah Hill are rumored to be top choices for roles.

Nice! Funny thing is that Hollywood filmmakers started out in Chicago but the weather and their need to film year-round caused them to relocate to Hollywood. Now it seems they're moving back to the Midwest, but to the lower-cost version of Chicago. No doubt global warming has them coming back to the Midwest.... :-P

I don't know if I'm more psyched that they're filming here, or that there's a Ghostbusters 3 in my future!

Not loving the Jonah Hill / Emma Stone nonsense. Bill Murray, et. al, or nothing!

^Agreed.  It it is a one of those cheesy re-makes with stars from the teeny-bop generation (a la 21 Jump Street), then don't try and fool us with calling it "Ghostbusters 3".  It's not like Murray, Akroyd, Hudson, Moranis, and whoever that guy is who played Egor are terribly busy at the moment.

....and whoever that guy is who played Egor

WTF?? That's Harold Ramis dude!!

The city of Brooklyn should be working hard to re-purpose the American Greetings HQ as a television and film production studio when they eventually make their move to Westlake. Its a large site, with easy access to downtown and the burbs.

^^^Egon, man, it's Egon! And 'that guy' is Harold Ramis, and he wrote, among other things, Animal House, Meatballs and Caddyshack. He was also in Stripes. He's very much available. Also, very fat and looks like a cross between wolfman jack and Santa.

I'll confess to enjoying 21 Jump Street, but that's only because the original was filmed with our version of the teeny bop generation.

Are we still capped state wide on credits we offer? It's June to June, yes? I would have thought Cap America would have used up most of the benefits we could offer, but what do I know.

Edit: I see KJP beat me to it.

I'd be happy just to get the drive in theater back.

I never understood the hype with her.  Fairly average (for Hollywood) IMO.

Was this movie filming in Cleveland Heights today?  Something major was happening in a house on Compton when I drove by.  Lots of equipment...tons of big lights and people and trailers and all the windows were covered from the outside (very interesting the way things were being done cause it looked like the filiming was being done inside the house).  And with all this commotion the neighbors were all out just raking leaves.  Also the street was not blocked or anything...just one cop car keeping watch.

The wedding and reception scenes were filmed earlier this week at the Tudor Arms Doubletree, in the ballrooms they typically use for weddings and receptions.

Yeah - it's that movie.  I'm friends with the homeowner.  I think they've been filming there for about 2 weeks.

They were also filming at University Heights City Hall last week.

Cleveland casino highlights Hollywood connection

Monday November 11, 2013 11:00 AM

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland's casino will mark the 30th anniversary of the Hollywood movie "A Christmas Story," parts of which were filmed in the department store now housing the casino.

The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland — which opened last year in the old Higbee building downtown — says the movie will be highlighted throughout the casino during the holiday season.

The Higbee building and its holiday-decorated windows had a starring role in the 1983 film. This year, the casino will recreate the nostalgic animatronic holiday scenes that adorned the store's street-level windows back in the day.
