I know this is probably the wrong place to post this, but I just saw a news report about Madonna and John Melloncamp, among others, being inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF, but the ceremony took place in New York.  Has there ever been any discussion of trying to get the induction ceremonies moved to Cleveland to actually be in the Rock Hall?  That would be such a cool annual event and would really boost perceptions of the city.

So were where you when the announcements that the ceremony would be in Cleveland?  Check the rock hall thread for further information.

Probably in Cincinnati where they really don't care about the RRHOF, nor hear much news about it (relative to cleveland).

And I'm no English teacher, but that sentence really, really hurts.

Florida Guy, thanks

Cleveland is featured on the A&E show Crime 360.  I've never watched this show before.

A Cleveland couple that turned an old Ukrainian social hall into their home/studio was on Rezoned this week on HGTV.  Their house was kinda cool, but not the best I've seen on there.  They didn't say where it was, but it looked like Tremont or maybe Clark-Fulton area.  They used the ballroom as their photography studio and then walked behind the curtain on the stage to their home which was the backstage area and the rest of the building.  They said the building was used as a Puerto Rican dominos club after the Ukrainians left it.

All of the intros to the other segments were filmed in Cleveland too...by the Rock Hall, North Coast Harbor and Lincoln Park.

Does anyone else watch that show?  I think its awesome.  Half of the houses are old barns in Iowa or an old mill in rural New England, but the best ones are old warehouses or furniture stores in small downtowns that the people turn into just amazing 10,000 sq ft loft houses.  Its on Weds night on HGTV HD...not sure if its same time for regular HGTV.  I'm sure it runs other times during the week.

ME!  But I didn't see that episode.

As a person who loves to "fix" stuff, my favorite episodes are:

  • the one with the guy who built his duplex out of an old automotive repair shop
  • The couple that built their home in an old bank (I think that was the Iowa episode) and the vault was the workout room
  • The guy that turned an old radio station studio and offices into a loft.  His loft was off the chain!!!
  • The people that renovated an abandonded school into a 30 room home.

^^ Cool!  I watch a lot of HGTV, but haven't seen that show.  I don't get HGTV HD though (Time Warner needs to seriously upgrade their HD channel offerings).  I'm still waiting for House Hunters, Cleveland...

If it is the episode that I'm thinking of it is in Detroit-Shoreway. Although I'm thinking you're talking about another episode.

Gee, I'll bet MTS will respond to shs96's Time Warner comment!

Hey..hey..hey.  Just pay your bill on time and be happy to have service!  Cable is not a democracy!  LOL

I hate house hunters.  I'd rather see "my house is worth what" here, since I've been trying to get my house on that show or "national open house".  My grand parents are in NY visiting me.  My Grammy is a Bravo and HGTV show junkie and she thinks I should sign up for "design star" or to host "design on a dime".

^I love the part in "My House is Worth What?" when the real estate agent is about to tell them how much its worth, and she says "By my calculations, your house is worth..." and then they do these goofy zoom ins on the couples worried faces, the real estate agent's serious face, back to the couple, cut to the Apprentice, back to the real estate agent.

It kills me everytime.

I also like the show, I'm not sure what its called, where the couple looks at a bunch of crappy houses that are way under their budget and the show has an architect show them what they can do to the house and still stay in their budget.  Its kind of like House Hunters and Flip That House combined.

Its so annoying.  but funny.

It's called Hidden potential.  I like the premise of the show, however, I would like them to do a follow-up shows to see if the buyers went thru with the exact designs as shown.  That would complete the circle.

I admit it's off topic but my favorite episodes are the yuppies who waaaay over-improve their home and act devastated when the realtor points out that spending $50K to improve a half-bath in the basement MIGHT not have been the wisest investment :-D

I know.  You must be talking about the couple in Minneapolis who but in a movie theater and wet bar and a over glorified ½ bath in the basement and wont get any money back.  Or the couple in Atlanta that spent that much on a basement when (certain types of) basements in GA, cannot be included in the over square footage of the home.

I watched Tony Scott's set filming the remake of "The Taking of Pelham One, Two Three" for several hours this morning in NYC.  I would LOVE to see that many people working in the industry here.  There must have been 150 people working at 1 location.

I thought that what he said about wanting to bring a film studio to Cleveland was amazing! I think that would be such a cool thing for Cleveland to have. And why not?? Cleveland's a stinking great town!

Here's a preview on YouTube:

From the looks of this clip, it's an excellent program. Does anyone know if this will be broadcast nationwide, or just locally? I'm assuming the latter. :(

It is on here in Florida:

I will post this in Events as well but since it's a movie and is definitely related to Cleveland, I wanted you all to know that my husband and received notice that our film was accepted into the Ohio Independent Film Festival.  Ours will be the feature the night (8pm) on Thursday, May 8, the title is "Kingsbury Run."  Noted local filmmaker Robert Banks is premiering one of his short films just before ours so I bet the whole program that night will be great.

The film was shot entirely in Cleveland with all local cast and crew. If it were rated, I would suggest it would be an R movie so don't plan to attend if you don't like films that include violence, nudity or strong language.

The OIFF is held at cleveland public theater (W 65th & Detroit).  Please plan to come out and show your support of Cleveland and local filmmakers.

Congratulations!

Congratulations rockandroller. That's terriffic.

Propmaker Fred Deyoe works on a false facade added onto a Belvidere Avenue apartment building for the movie "The Soloist." A set crew was preparing several buildings for the movie being shot in the Hough neighborhood on Thursday, April 10. Thomas Ondrey / The Plain Dealer

Clevelanders are sick of snow, but we'll have to cope with one more blast of winter, thanks to a Hollywood film crew. Filmmakers with "The Soloist," a movie being made in the Hough neighborhood this week, plan to pile artificial snow to create December in April.

I got an call back for "my house is worth what".  Unfortunately, they (the PA) didn't say which one.  Since I submitted like 10 houses.

Michael Symon taking over Food Network's "Dinner: Impossible''

As if Michael Symon wasn't busy enough. Cleveland's Mr. Type A of gastronomy is taking on another challenge. He's going to be the host of "Dinner: Impossible," Food Network's third-highest rated show.

This new job is in addition to his other jobs as owner of Cleveland landmark restaurants Lola and Lolita, and one of the Iron Chefs on Food Network's "Iron Chef America." He will continue to do "Iron Chef America," shooting 10 shows for the new season in June. He begins shooting 13 "Dinner: Impossible" show next week, finishing at the end of May. New episodes of both shows will begin airing in November.

Last summer, director Sean McCoy filmed a comedy television pilot set and filmed in and around Cleveland, Ohio! The show is now being reviewed for sale by head producers at NBC and FOX!

The first showing of the pilot was reserved for cast, crew, friends, and family, as well as some local and national celebrities (Bruce Campbell, Lloyd Kaufman, Dennis Kucinich, and Winona Ryder were in attendance), and now Sean McCoy is doing one final free and public showing before he leaves for LA to continue his television and film career!

The single showing will be at Talkies Film and Coffee Bar at 2521 Market Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, May 3rd at 6:00 PM sharp.  Mr. McCoy declined to verify that any of his other celebrity aquaintances such as Stephen King will be attending this showing, but it will be an exciting time nonetheless.

The audience at the first showing were reduced to tears of laughter, actually resulted in one poor fellow losing control of his bladder! The show, which centers around the character of Clevelander, James Mars telling stories in a bar of his group of college friends and the trouble they would get into, is a comedy on the level of Scrubs with the dry wit of The Office.

this sounds awesome-if indeed you could have something of that nature(office/scrubs like). I am dissappointed I cannot make the showing. wish they would have another one. Any YouTube moments?

Did anyone see the first showing of "Return of the Cuyahoga" on PBS on Friday?

Ash!

I have it tivoed, I should be watching it soon.

Can you reveal the title of the show?

I have to wait a whole week to see it. :(

^ There is a replay of it for Earth Day tonight at 9-10pm on WVIZ here in Cleveland.  Not sure that it'll be on nationally again.  I heard that it's a really phenomenal documentary.

I was given a copy by a co-worker of a tv pilot filmed completly here in Ohio--Cleveland/Lakewood to be exacct!!!!!!!

It was REALLY well done--funny..entertaining.

I guess there was a preview at Talkies in Ohio City. Sorry I missed it.

Hope they have another coming up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told they have an in at Universal studios....and the director would like to keep this filmed here in Cleveland!!!!!!!

Good luck!!!

If anyone knows if there is another showing.

PLEASE post!!

Thanks in advance

Thanks for posting.  Looking forward to it.

Anyone else watch "Return of the Cuyahoga" tonight?  Very intersting history, especially at the beginning.  (don't want to ruin it for Florida Guy and others though!)

^ I watched and really enjoyed it.  The story was told very well, and the interviews were great.  The city and its people were really painted in a very positive light.

Did anyone else think that the Parma West Creek story seemed a little out of place?  It was a very inspiring case of grassroots action, but didn't seem to be incredibly pertinent in the overall scheme of things.  I also thought it was strange that there was little emphasis on the cultivation of the river for recreation.  I don't recall the Towpath ever being mentioned.

The dvd is supposed to be available for purchase on the PBS website, if anyone is interested.

Repeat broadcasts of "Return of the Cuyahoga" will be Thursday, April 24 at 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 26 at 9:00 PM; Sunday, April 27 at 7:00 PM.
