Hi there,

I am a big fan of geography and I make small map based quiz games as a hobby.

And I made two games about Ohio. So I felt the urge to share these with someone:

Major cities of Ohio:
https://geographyquiz.app/quiz/usa-ohio-cities/252

Counties of Ohio:
https://geographyquiz.app/quiz/usa-ohio-counties/245

In the cities quiz I skipped Parma and Kettering due to the close proximity to Cleveland and Dayton. Sorry for that.

If you think I missed a very important city, please tell me.
Due to the large amount of counties in Ohio I added difficulty levels.

I hope you are ok with my post in this community. Have fun! 🙂

Yikes! Only 16/17 on the cities. Thx for posting.

16/17. Lima got me

Well that was fun. 17/17 on cities, but I’d knew that would be easy for me. The county quiz was the more interesting challenge. Embarrassed that I blanked on Cincy county and went too fast answering on Stark and missed it the first time, but otherwise I think I did well. 33/42 on the first pass, plus 4 more on second/third attempts. Who can beat me? (Without cheating, obvi) And this thing didn’t include a bunch of counties that a definitely would have gotten right (and many others I would have had no chance on. Who knows where Vinton county is, ha.)

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Anybody remember doing this in 7th grade Ohio History class? We had to memorize counties and their seats, around 15 at a time. The teacher split up the state into regions.

Fun!  I only got 16/17 on the cities, but that was because I didn't immediately grasp what was going on, and was trying to click on Cleveland thinking it would ask me when I clicked, when I it was telling me at the bottom to click on Cincinnati, which I didn't see.

I need to learn my counties though, I was only about 50% on that.

I got all the cities but also sucked on the counties. I accidentally got my own county wrong by not looking close enough lol.

Yes, we had to do that in 7th grade as well.

For the record, I got 42/42 and 17/17.  But then again, I've been photographing this state for like 20+ years so I'd better get it right!

17/17, and 35/42.  Great game for a dork on a Saturday night!  But I played with a vodka tonic, so I'm kinda cool 😎 😅!  Thanks for sharing!

Also 17/17 and 35/42. Several NE Ohio counties took more than one try.

I might have been able to get most everything south of I-70, but NW Ohio would probably be mostly red.

I guess the cities quiz is too easy for you guys 😅

Ha, that was fun.

I missed Hamilton on the cities quiz, so 16/17. I got a pretty meager 28/42 on the counties. And I might add, by flashing the name, my incorrect guesses aided me on my future unknown counties. But I tried to pick my honest guess regardless 😄

And welcome to the site!

Has no one turned up the difficulty to do all 88 counties at once? I failed utterly at it outside of the I-71 corridor and the major cities.

Mike Dewine and he alone might be able to ace that.

Pretty much any campaign professional would rock that, at least among the Republicans as Democrats only need to know the few counties they bother to campaign in.  >:)

17/17 on the cities.

17/17 on the cities.

Per Google, there are 3033 counties in the United States.  I'm skeptical that anyone has memorized all of them.

Kentucky has an enormous amount of counties. And it's not like Ohio where the counties only vary in size by like. 10%.

So does Texas.   I think Ohio's biggest county in land area is Ashtabula at just over 700 square miles and Lake is smallest at around 250.

^yes, Lake is the smallest, but it's only either 227 or 232 sq. mi. according to online info 🥴

but also remember it was carved out of Geauga county, as I recall.

Edited by eastvillagedon

And it is over 900 when you include what's underwater. But Ashtabula swells to over 1300 when you include water.

Tried the counties again. Only got 32 this time. *sigh*

16/17 on the cities. Didn’t even try the counties. Lived in Cleveland for 12 years and it still feels like every few months I learn of an Ohio county that I didn’t even know existed, let alone where it is! If it’s not in NEO I’ve almost no idea.

Lake County was carved out of Geauga and a small part of Cuyahoga County.

17/17, 32/42

100% on both, but I make so many maps for the state at this point that I would be embarrassed if I didn't get that score.

Now why is this not a surprise lol?

Got 51/53 on that one.

Oh wow, impressive! 😀👍

16/17 43/53

17/18 on the "easy mode" counties quiz.  I missed Holmes (put it where Ashland should be) on the first try, got it on the 2nd.

17/17 on cities.

27/28 on difficulty 2 counties quiz (after doing the easy mode one so this time I knew Ashland and Holmes).  Mixed up Morrow and Marion this time as the center counties came in.

Going up to difficulty 3 and things start to fall apart (guess where I basically never go in this state):

And it would have been worse if the game didn't flash the name of the wrong guesses so I could memorize them for later (I got Clarke, Clinton, and Clermont later only after making wrong guesses about them earlier for Miami, Fayette, Greene, and Preble).

Hi there,

I do not let you off the hook yet. At least those connected to Cincinnati. I made one more quiz about the neighborhoods of Cincinnati:

https://geographyquiz.app/quiz/usa-cincinnati-neighborhoods/259

Ouch - 27/53. I probably used to know most of these at one time, I guess that's what I get for moving out of the area 20 years ago.

Not having major roads or highways made this WAY harder.

Old thread, but I just made a new quiz. This time about the neighborhoods of Cleveland:

Ha, very Cleveland that you offered the option to do just west side or just east side. Only a couple neighborhoods took me more than two guesses, and I didn’t completely whiff any. (And only one where I was thinking “I’ve never heard it called that.”) A different order would have saved me on which Collinwood is which.
