Posted June 13, 20232 yr A little slice of Italy in Croatia. We stayed in Rovinj but made forays into the countryside and Pula. Most of Istria was ruled by the Venetians for centuries and the influence is evident. Lots of St. Marks lions, Venetian windows, and the distinctive bell towers. Rovinj: There was an ancient 6th century basilica in Poreč so we made a trip up the coast Serious rosemary-age Ate lunch at a classic donoba (casual tavern/restaurant) in the countryside around Poreč.
