A little slice of Italy in Croatia. We stayed in Rovinj but made forays into the countryside and Pula. Most of Istria was ruled by the Venetians for centuries and the influence is evident. Lots of St. Marks lions, Venetian windows, and the distinctive bell towers.

Serious rosemary-age

 

Ate lunch at a classic donoba (casual tavern/restaurant) in the countryside around Poreč. Olive oil and truffles for days

There are also a number of fantastic hill towns in Istria like Motovun and Grožnjan
