There are a couple NOLA-like neighborhoods that impress. Downtown is rather underwhelming for a state capital. 

I have never been to Baton Rouge. From these pictures, it looks surprisingly plain.

 

I like to joke that I was OSU-LSU before Joe Burrow made it cool. 😁
But back in the early days of UrbanOhio, I decided to move from Clintonville to Baton Rouge and enroll in LSU's Geography Dept to pursue a masters degree (this was back in 2004).
I lived down there for 5 years ('04-'09) before moving back to Central Ohio.
