UPDATE: Thursday, September 7 at 6pm (or earlier if you want for happy hour specials). BrewDog, 1956 Carter Rd, Cleveland, OH 44113. I will likely be later than that due to my wife's work schedule, but there will be friendly faces whenever you decide to show up.

Let's close summer with a Happy Hour meet up. Use the poll and mark your preferred dates. Note that the Guardians are in town on Tuesday and out of town on Thursday. If we pick Tuesday, my suggestion is Masthead (1261 Superior) to somewhat avoid the baseball crowd; Thursday has more options - perhaps Southern Tier (811 Prospect) or even out to Goldhorn on East 55th at St Clair. Feel free to comment with reactions to those suggestions or even alternatives.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

My son has soccer practices or games just about every weekday evening and most weekends. Only on Tuesdays are the practices not mandatory.

I can do Tuesday but I prefer Thursday.

All are welcome!

I'll say Goldhorn has a ton of space to spread out. If it's on a Thurs and at Goldhorn (sorry ken) there's a band in one of the rooms. In spite of my perceived bias way I'm open to whatever! Thanks Brian.

I can't do September 7th, have some of the big guys visiting from Chicago that day and so I'll have some major updates from an unannounced project not far from downtown...

I can do either but prefer Tuesday, as would my lurking-but-never-posting husband. 😄

I live in Massachusetts so can't join you but wish you all a good time (with some good @zbaris87 scoops)!

Also side note, Goldhorn isn't open on Tuesday's. Not sure how strict Southern Tier is about their fancy(ish) room downstairs, but that seems like it'd be a perfect fit if we did go w/Tuesday. If breweries are the theme, Butcher and Brewer wouldn't be a terrible bet either.

Brick and Barrel is chill too and not usually too busy. Outdoor bookhouse is a good option as well.

I put Thursday down in the poll, but can also do Tuesday. Brick and Barrel is a good suggestion.

Yes, I saw that about Goldhorn, only an option on Thursday. I’m thinking not southern tier Tues because of the Guardians game (so nothing else in gateway area either for Tues).

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Thursday!

Sending regrets--I'll be in Chicago for work.

Tuesday is my preference but Thursday would also work. Appreciate the invite!

Either works. Should be in town that week so looking forward to it!

Okay, I’ve been to Brick and Barrel once, but it was post-show after Alicia Keys at Nautica when we decided to walk a bit to get a better chance at a Lyft ride home. It ended up being a 2.5 mile bar crawl/walk from Nautica to home 🤪 I recall the beers on tap were lovely and service was great and a cool vibe.

Anyway, for some reason🍻 I don’t recall what the food situation is there and as someone who proudly eats their feelings, and as my husband learned very early in our relationship, DO NOT EVER LET ME GET HANGRY. I’m not a picky eater at all but I didn’t see anything resembling a standard food menu - am I not looking in the right spot?

Someone recommended Brick and Barrel last time too. I also cannot find any indication that they serve food, and I agree food is a must.

It’s looking like Thursday is the day. As far as Southern Tier or butcher and Brewer, do they have plenty of space, or am I going to need to make a reservation? (I’d much prefer a place that just has big tables and plenty of room, like Masthead. Reservations feels complicated.) hey @GISguy looking at you with these questions.

Hello all - definitely Thursday, September 7 for happy hour. Still finalizing location, but likely downtown. I'm also still open to suggestions - requirements: serves hot food (preferably also good); open seating that does NOT require reservations, and orders placed at the bar. Most likely it'll be Masthead on Superior between E12 and 13, but we can finalize the location later.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Oh boo!!!  I want somewhere else than Masthead (it was great; just something different).  Something in Ohio City or something?

Yeah I’m torn because I want to try something new, but I know masthead works. Anyway, I’m still open to suggestions.

There's always BrewDog in the flats (I haven't been so I'm not sure on things but I can't imagine it'll be too nuts).

Also, it's a bit more packed if the weather is crap but I don't think we've meandered over to Terrestrial yet - granted they don't really have big communal tables (think more of the Masthead meetup vibe).

Noble Beast is small for something like this, but I bet we could take over the back "patio" - idk when I go in it's rarely too packed out there.

Hansa is more traditional but that's another option (could probably ask a server to order at the bar).

Goldhorn definitely fits for what we're looking for but totally understand if that's too much of a haul.

I know I've named six! breweries with no help to make the decision.

Just an FYI, the Guardians are out of town (LA) on that day so nothing in that vicinity should be too hectic.

As per @GISguyrecommendation, I have been to BrewDog several times and it is very spacious. Definitely plenty of space inside or out on the patio. That seems like a perfect option. Although I can't speak for their food as I was on a liquid diet each time 🤪 but they do have a broad menu.

@ColDayManmentioned Ohio City and I believe there was a meetup I missed in the past at Saucy, correct? if so, I would exclude that. But North High Brewing is a cool place I have been to a few times with food and seating outside, weather permitting of course.

Thx for the input. I was a bit concerned with BrewDog because it’s not particularly accessible from transit. Does anyone know how their food is?

Sorry for not finalizing yet - I’m traveling this week for work so it’s been a bit hectic. We will nail it down by this weekend.

Better than Masthead's...

Brewdog's food is pretty good. As I remember the selection isn't huge, and the prices are a tad high, but I had no issues with the quality. It's a great space, whether you end up inside or out. Manageable walk from Tower City. Very accessible from the Towpath.

Food at BrewDog is a rung above alright. The tacos are decent but overpriced. however, the venue is perfect.

Ok, lots of votes for BrewDog. Any reasons to object to BrewDog?

Game for wherever, thanks again for getting the ball rolling.

I've got Daddy duty down in Sagamore Hills.   I have it Tuesday as well, so I never chimed in on the date.

OK BrewDog it is! 1956 Carter Rd, Cleveland, OH 44113. I'm going to say 6pm, but you are certainly welcome to get their earlier (and the happy hour specials end at 6). My wife wants to come along (which I think is great), and with her work schedule I'm not sure what time I'll be able to get there. That said, several of our regulars are in and I'm sure you'll find some friendly faces whenever you arrive. Remember that Carter road south of BrewDog is closed (per the above post), so instead come from the north / downtown / east bank of the Flats, crossing the river on the Carter road bridge, or up Scranton Rd on the other side of Scranton peninsula.

So far I'm expecting: @ColDayMan @marty15 @Ineffable_Matt @Paul in Cleveland @urb-a-saurus @GREGinPARMA @Blimp City @YABO713 (!!!) @Growth Mindset @WindyBuckeye @Oldmanladyluck @dwolfi01 @GISguy  @Henke @MayDay

Not gonna happen.  I have to get my oldest kid to soccer then while my 7-months-pregnant wife tries to get one of our other kids to soccer at a different place at the same time. 😱 😬  😫

I will definitely find a way to get my hands on a good locally-produced beer and raise it in solidarity with all of you who can actually make it.  Heaven knows I'll want, need, and deserve it.

Good luck with all that. I hope everything continues to go well!

@Boomerang_BrianClasses have successfully been screwed! So I'm on the 9-5 grind now 🥲, but if I try and leave work by 4 maybe I can make it up from Cbus in time... I guess consider me 50/50

We'll be closing the books that day so hard to say when my day will end, but probably late evening.

I'll try to catch the next one, enjoy!

I'm planning on it. Hopefully the hubby (who lurks on here) can join a bit late, too.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.

I should be able to make it finally to one of these, but depends on how quickly the work day wraps up with monthly close fun.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. We do have a reservation under “UrbanOhio (Shawn)” in case you have trouble finding us. Can anyone confirm if Canal Rd below Tower City is reopened yet? According to Google Maps, yes, but I trust you all more.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Boo this man!

Seriously though, hopefully one of these works for you - would be great to meet a fellow CWRU nerd.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Depending on if I make the 53, I may be either fashionably early or late. We shall see! Lol

Unfortunately I won’t be able to swing it tonight. This short week has been kinda crazy.

Gina and I are on our way. Should be there by 6:30

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Going to be late, but I should be able to make it. Very busy week, so wasn't really sure until now.

Hoping to make it but running late.
