Posted April 16, 200619 yr Anyone remember when that overpass on I-75 used to say "Pat Berry Sat on Me"? Or "Chris Sabo Died for our Sins"?
April 16, 200619 yr ^ Most graffiti bothers me, but I kinda admired that guy. 1. It was funny, not just some nit-wit "marking his turf" and 2. How did he do it? They were in difficult spots to get to! I had to give it to him for that.
April 16, 200619 yr Anyone remember when that overpass on I-75 used to say "Pat Berry Sat on Me"? Or "Chris Sabo Died for our Sins"? Those were hilarious, there was at least one if not two more though, do you remember what they said?
April 16, 200619 yr One on the lateral said simply "Bush=Quayle", which had all the tautological characteristics of a Mobius Strip, which is to say a perpetual phenomenon of mild intrigue but ultimately useless symbiosis of theory and practice. However, it inserted two complicated proper nouns, the first being the name of two presidents and a type of plant, and the other an obscure vice president and small bird. I suppose that this piece was all simply a statement about the Enlightenment, and the West's inability to sit content with purely aesthetic exercises. The mind strains for quantifiable content, but its meaning is that subversive acts can be made with no specific intended reaction, other than to subvert. Oh yeah, and I remember the last one said "Tony Danza Is My Dad". Wow, I don't know how I remembered that. And it's funny because that was before the "Tony Danza" was a mixed drink or had his reality TV/talk show comeback. All in all this was the work of a higher life form. The only piece of overpass graffiti that has ever equalled this was in the late 80's, when the I-275 overpass over Blue Rock Rd. in Colerain Township had scrawled on it, in medium-sized text, "Goat's Dick". It was up there for over a year, I remember having to use every muscle in my body to not crack up while riding in the car with my grandma past it.
April 17, 200619 yr I always thought the two dots over the "O" in Hopple in I-75 south, making it an umlaut, was graffiti far more subtle than one normally sees...very fun.
June 23, 200618 yr Wow...the city must need money. Cecil Thomas offered up a motion that the city should explore ways to charge property owners fees for the city's graffiti removal team to come out and rid the building of graffiti. Yeah, that should go over REALLY well.
June 23, 200618 yr Rob Dibble punched me in the mouth was my favorite. I'm thinking of making a t-shirt.
June 26, 200618 yr wasn't there one of these invoking Nate Livingston's name, on the Norwood Lateral?

Yeah, that should go over REALLY well. Nice catch grasscat, I totally missed this. Cecil Thomas really is an idiot. The graffiti abatement program is one city service that really works so Thomas wants to change it to charge the victims of this crime, which should slow down or eliminate the abatement in many cases. It really is mind boggling. Anybody who has done any sort of work with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful on this can tell you how hard it is to just get a right of entry form signed for a lot of these properties (which the city need to have to go on the property and remove the graffiti), there is no way 90% of these property owners will have the graffiti removed if it costs them a single penny. Just to recap, while the surveillance camera project has virtually disappeared, the neighborhood officer program has been disbanded, and the City's homicide rate skyrockets, the chairman of law and public safety committee has: Proposed a (and passed) re-criminalization of Marijuana Proposed changing a tremendously successful program to create a financial disincentive to graffiti abatement. Worst. Councilperson. Ever.
June 26, 200618 yr ^Do you remember about a year ago someone put graffiti all over OTR and Clifton? It was a hand with a finger sticking up. Well the graffiti removal team did a great job removing them (I'm not sure what meaning they had, if any). They removed one from my building within two days. That program is very good. If I recall, Roxanne Qualls got that program started. Also remember on a roof of a dilapidated barn, visible from I74, that said "No tresspassing-You Turkey" which was kinda a welcome home sign when returning from Indiana for a decade or more ... until the barn collapsed.

It is how he thinks. rofl at keep cincinnati beautiful. I remember when five and verbs did interviews on channel 19 news with paper bags on they heads talking about the overpass messages. My favorite was "jake sweeny stole my car"
January 6, 201015 yr i wanted to mention keep Cincinnati beautiful regularly has harassed business owners with "graffiti" type murals on them. They have also called the police on people painting these permission walls. These walls have proven to be outlets for very talented artists who would otherwise be painting under some bridge. I'm the first to stomp some punk tagging up my property but obviously graffiti abatement in this city is not working. In the 90's when people where allowed to paint goebles park in covington you didn't see graffiti on the highways like you do now. common sense
January 6, 201015 yr Anyone remember when that overpass on I-75 used to say "Pat Berry Sat on Me"? Or "Chris Sabo Died for our Sins"? I remember "Colin Powell=Vanilla Ice" on the Norwood lateral
February 6, 201015 yr Pictures? If you look on myspace and facebook maybe you can easily find out who did it and track em down.
