Posted November 15, 20231 yr So I've held onto these for a while and with permission of the amazing @Paradox24 (Canada drone shots) and @MCC (PIB shots), here are some shots from the Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial in Put-in-Bay and drone shots from (mainland) Canada's most southern point, Point Pelee. *These photos are unedited and are meant for you to actually click on each so you get the full resolution/view. Let's start with the views from Put-in-Bay which @MCC and I were lucky to get amazing weather for. Anyone of you can get these shots from atop the monument on a clear day. Various Lake Erie Islands, Leamington (Ontario), and RenCen in Detroit (notice it between the last two windmills on the far right) Various Lake Erie Islands, Leamington (Ontario), and RenCen in Detroit (notice it between the last two windmills on the left) Various Lake Erie Islands and Leamington, Ontario Lonz Winery and Leamington, Ontario Monroe, Michigan Cedar Point Toledo Key Tower in Cleveland, from around 50 miles away And drone photos are below... November 15, 20231 yr Very cool! Is that for sure key tower From the PIB photos? I'm limited to looking at the pic on my phone,. The building kind of looks like the toledo harbor light. I would figure you'd be able to atleast see something else out of the skyline. I worked at PIB a few summers, went up the monument a few times. A ranger told me you can see both Toledo and Cleveland on a clear day, but I was only ever able to make out toledo.. any person I've ever told that to, has never believed me. (The ability to see cleveland. ) I'm pretty sure I've even seen people shoot it down on this site.. But that's clear as day from Pelee Point forsure.

It's most certainly Key Tower in Cleveland (blow up the photo on a CPU/labtop/iPad and you'll clearly see the crown). Toledo would be the opposite direction from which that photo was taken. November 17, 20231 yr Can someone who knows more about photography explain how these photos can so clearly capture places that are so far away? Maybe I'm wrong, but I just imagine a person or normal camera wouldnt be able to see Detroit that clearly from Leamington

A normal camera could potentially take the same shots from, say, a hot air balloon or a Cessna. May 8May 8 The picture labeled "Cleveland and Lakewood, Ohio" where was that taken from? I know that section is under the "drone photos" and it also says from the southern part of Canada. I just didn't realize there would be farm land on the shore. Seems like some extreamly expensive farmland lol. Can someone provide the name of the town\city that is?

That farmland you see is actually the beginning of Point Pelee National Park. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

It's been over* (wtf!) ten years since I've biked it, but I just remember their shoreline being a lot less hardened and more natural. Here's a crappy ipod pic from that trip in this general area:Don't Give Up The Lake: Day 4 mi...Day 4 middayHi again going to keep this quick. Currently in Blenheim and on my way to Port Stanley- about half way there. Saw some awesome sights today...And a video from down by the turbines: https://photos.app.goo.gl/gurPC6JSQRrecbty6 Edited May 8May 8 by GISguy

Can someone provide the name of the town\city that is?I drove around Lake Erie in 2003 and, while I knew there were no major cities on the Canadian side, the lack of development was very surprising. It's almost nonstop farmland and forests. And what also surprised was how much tobacco farming is done there. Being close to the relatively warm lake helps their growing season, much like it does with our grapes and wineries here along the southern shore. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
