December 4, 20231 yr It’s a solid 20 years since I was there, but to me, it felt like a place with much more of a past than a future. Certainly didn’t feel anything like a city of over half a million people. My hovercraft is full of eels

The most forgotten part of downtown is the Fresno's main street--Fulton. For more than 50 years, it was a pedestrian mall. It was not until 2017 that traffic was finally re-introduced, and it seems that downtown is still trying to recover from that urban planning experiment. The stretch is lined with historic office buildings that would seem to be obvious candidates to convert to residential and/or hotels, creating a base for more retail and restaurants.
