Posted April 13, 20241 yr I'm reaching out to the UO community again for recommendations. You all never let me down! I will be in town in June for the Rolling Stones concert. Where to room? I want to stay downtown, walkable, I will be taking the rapid from the airport. My go to is the arcade but I'm thinking something more "homey" like an airbnb or vrbo. Parking? My friends will be driving up from Youngstown and will need a place to park downtown for the weekend. Restaurants? Walkable I'm thinking something riverfront, lake view , or city view. My brother and his wife and my sister and her husband will be coming from Brunstucky and Pittsburgh. I want it to be special. Things to do downtown? Pre Stones cocktails @Bar32 are already on the agenda. I'm open to your suggestions. Thank you in advance for your recommendations. 😀 Edited April 17, 20241 yr by Florida Guy spelling

Monday. Just be aware of potential event related parking bans (eg guardians games). Plenty of spots available near the warehouse district and also east of East 9th. For our last downtown staycation, wife and I stayed at the Kimpton Schofield (Euclid / East9th) and it was quite nice. With the recent renovations at Hotel Cleveland (former Renaissance), that’s the one I’m most curious to check out, plus that would be convenient from the Rapid. Restaurants - everyone seems to be excited about Acqua Di Luca (st Clair / west 6). When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

If I'm you, and you're going to be with a group, I would get an AirBNB in Ohio City (preferably near Hingetown) - you'll be within a 2 mile walk/Uber/scooter ride everywhere downtown (I biked to Key Tower from W. 50th in 9 minutes this morning), and you'll also have a slightly more lively neighborhood during the day. 25th and Lorain is a really, really, fun and unique place to be around in the summer, especially on weekends. You can still catch the rapid from the airport to either 65th or 25th and walk to your place, and it also mitigates the need for parking for the friends from Youngstown. In terms of restaurants, you'd have Amba, Bartleby, Brightside, etc. In short, Ohio City offers you FULL downtown access while giving you slightly more options (in my opinion) in the morning and early afternoon with a group. If you're insistent on Downtown, then the Hyatt is always my #1 rec for out-of-towners - it's such a special building. And I second Brian on the Acqua di Luca recommendation... exceptional service and incredible food.
April 15, 20241 yr Adding to the restaurant suggestions, Cordelia has a pretty unique menu and the chef there is a James Beard finalist this year. It’s a really fun experience and my favorite place to eat downtown right now.

The food can be hit or miss, but eating down on the river in the East Bank of the Flats is a great experience. Collision Bend is a great option (if you’re on the patio). If you’re staying downtown, Nuevo out on the E9th Street pier puts you right on the lake. And if you listen to @YABO713, Luca’s is a short walk from hingetown with fantastic views of downtown (but pricy outside of it’s amazing happy hour).
April 16, 20241 yr Agree on Collision Bend but would recommend “patio adjacent” seating. It’s covered in case of inclement weather, and less likelihood of being pestered by aggressive locals aka the gulls. No joke, was on their patio when someone at the next table accidentally dropped a good sized chicken wing. Gull hopped off the railing, chomped down on it and took off like a ravenous cannibal 🤪 clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
April 17, 20241 yr Author @Boomerang_Brian thank you for the parking recommendation. I'm finding a lot of conflicting information on google. My friends that will be driving will arrive on Friday evening and will be leaving Sunday morning. I have the Park Mobile app but last information was 2023 and it said it wasn't fully rolled out. Are you saying it is free after 6 PM Friday? 🤯 Are the park and ride lots safe? If so which one? It may be easier for them to park there and take the rapid downtown. Downtown street parking is free after 6pm on weekdays and all weekend, but there are many parking restrictions to be aware of. Restrictions are well marked - examples include near the stadium on game days and in the main roads of the warehouse district on weekend evenings (eg St Clair and West 6&9). I parked on West 10th at about 6:30 on Friday quite easily. I would feel more comfortable leaving my car on the street downtown for the weekend than at a Rapid lot. RTA asks that people call if they will be parking overnight at a lot (eg Brookpark to get to the airport for a trip). (I don’t know who to call) When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
April 25, 20241 yr Author Is there something else going on downtown other than the stones concert June 14 weekend? All of the hotels are fully booked. I may have to go with @YABO713 Ohio City suggestion. There are some Vrbo & Airbnb downtown starting at $700 per night.

May 14, 20241 yr We need a few more new high rise hotels. Hopefully what @zbaris87 said back in February in the hotel thread is still in the works: "Both, 5 star hotel with a residence as well. Would also be a game changer for the Cleveland skyline. Will give more info when i'm allowed to speak about it"

June 13, 20241 yr Author We are arriving tomorrow morning and have some time to kill before checking into our Airbnb. Any recommendations for breakfast within walking distance of the red line downtown or Ohio City? Thank you.
June 13, 20241 yr I have a soft spot for West Side Market Cafe. It's just steps away from the W25 Ohio City Red Line station.
June 13, 20241 yr Breakfast spots in the OC's Market District are pretty much limited to the Market Cafe, Nate's Deli, or Crepes de Luxe inside the market. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
June 13, 20241 yr Agree about Market Cafe and Crepes de Luxe for breakfast spots in Ohio City's Market District. If eating a later breakfast and if you're willing to walk a little further, would also recommend Le Petit Triangle, which is about a 15 minute walk from the W 25th St station. If feeling a little more adventurous, Patron Saint serves breakfast all day (opens at 8am) and they're like a 20 minute walk from the W 25th St station or could take the #26 Bus from Public Sq. As for breakfast spots downtown, Addy's Diner in the 5th Street Arcades is pretty good, but there's also Al's Diner (E 9th and Superior), Milk + Honey (they have a Tower City as well as a Perk Park/Oswald Bldg. location, more casual with breakfast sandwiches/bagels/wraps and coffee), and Luna Bakery Cafe (W 9th and Superior). There's also Betts at the Kimpton Scofield hotel (E 9th & Euclid), have only had lunch there but would assume their breakfast would be decent. Edited June 13, 20241 yr by andrew0816
