Hotel announced at Haslam’s District 46 in Berea
By Ken Prendergast / January 28, 2025

Although the District 46 mixed-use development in Berea didn’t win a megaproject tax credit yesterday for adding a community recreation center at the development’s south end, it isn’t slowing down the rest of the $155 million project.

Haslam Sports Group breaks ground on Browns campus expansion

Leaders from Haslam Sports Group and their partners turned ceremonial shovels of dirt on Wednesday to mark the start of their CrossCountry Mortgage Campus expansion in Berea, Ohio.

The 16-acre extension of the Cleveland Browns headquarters and practice facility on Lou Groza Boulevard will be developed by DiGeronimo Cos. in Brecksville and include a 45,000-square-foot office building, two apartment buildings with 150 market-rate apartment units, a 140-room Barker Tribute Portfolio hotel by Marriott and a community sports field, said David Jenkins, chief operating officer for Haslam Sports Group, to guests assembled for the event.

The campus also is expected to include 15,000-square feet of retail space, the sports group said in October. The upscale Barker hotel would be built in partnership with Crawford Hoying and operated by Shaner Hotel Group.

Now THAT is a Browns suburban development l can get behind. Nicely done Jimmy. Now about that other plan you have for Brook Park...can we talk?

I think this Berea construction will be a good test case. HSG's success or lack thereof with this Berea development will no doubt have an affect on their final Brookpark plans.

This isn't a Haslam project and not within District 46, but it is very close by along Front St., so I thought this was as good a place as any to put this.

STEM Exploration Center planned for Berea

I can't say that I completely understand the point of this place, but it looks cool and I hope it succeeds.

^ That sounds pretty impressive. Hope more and more people get interested enough to pursue STEM careers. We need to create a new workforce to replace all those people retiring.
