Miceli Dairy plans $128M expansion, 250 new jobs
By Ken Prendergast / June 8, 2024

Cleveland’s booming food industry on the city’s East Side continues to boom. The next explosive expansion could more than double the size of Miceli Dairy Products Co., 2721 E. 90th St., in Cleveland’s Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood. The company, which turned 100 years old last year, is planning an investment of about $128 million divided among three phases of expansion that promises up to 250 new jobs.

This is big and impactful. While I've been dreaming of townhouses, apartments, and retail along Opportunity Corridor since it opened, this is a great investment by a local company working hard to stay here.

Any chance some of the jobs guaranteed can be given to residents in the surrounding neighborhoods? Could be a catalyst for getting that area to turn the corner.

@scg80 I reached out to Councilwoman Gray about the jobs being offered to locals first, but since it was a Saturday, she didn't get back to me and I didn't think she would. I'm sure we'll hear a lot more about this big, multi-phase project in the coming weeks, months and years.

Love it.

This, unironically.

I mean, look at the potential size of this thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Miceli's takes over everything south of Cumberland, east of Opportunity Corridor, north of NS/GCRTA and west of CSX except for a couple of churches. We're talking potentially 45 acres if Miceli's acquires these residential parcels and a small church or two.

Is this opportunity spinning off from the OC, or would this have happened regardless?

Some of their biggest property acquisitions -- parcels 12621001 and 12621002 -- came in 2018 and 2012, respectively. OCB was advancing planning-wise but not guaranteed in 2012. It was definitely happening by 2018. And that's when Miceli started taking down lots of buildings and remediating the land over by the boulevard. The activity north of Buckeye to Cumberland is very recent -- starting around the time OCB finishing up. GCRTA said they started talking talking to Miceli a couple of years ago, right around the time OCB was completed.

I was just clicking around on MyPlace after seeing this, and Miceli even owns some properties on the other side of the Opportunity Corridor along Grand and Lisbon.

Miceli Dairy to start its big expansion in spring
By Ken Prendergast / December 24, 2024

Miceli Dairy Products is taking the first big steps toward its multi-phase expansion vision by unveiling plans for its $16 million first phase. But when all three phases are completed in the coming years, Miceli anticipates making a $128 million investment that will bring hundreds of new jobs to Cleveland’s Buckeye-Woodland neighborhood.

Credit where credit is due - this is exactly type of development and investment that the state and the city hoped for with the creation of the Opportunity Corridor. I hope RTA makes an effort to capitalize on the additional potential riders in a corridor where it already provides frequent, wildly underutilized service.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Miceli Dairy anticipates doubling its employment

By Ken Prendergast / May 29, 2025

When Miceli Dairy Products, 2721 E. 90th St. in Cleveland, broke ground today for the expansion of its new cold storage facilities, it also teased a follow-on project — a planned new research center plus mozzarella cheese manufacturing plant next to the Opportunity Corridor Boulevard. These additions in the coming years are anticipated to double Miceli’s current employment of 250 people.
