I just found a bunch of stuff for relatives and forwarded on the information. I'll probably mention it around the office as well. Why not?

THEN PAY FOR THE STADIUM NO ONE WANTS YOUR GODDAMN SELF!!

  • So it looks like they have no interest in developing near a potential infill Red Line station, nor making any kind of pedestrian connection to the airport. Seems like a major missed opportunity to me.

I heard about it on the radio. I think it was an ESPN 850 interview with Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne.

But the link that @roman totale XVII provided was correct.

Cuyahoga County Council urges Ronayne to face reality, prepare for Browns’ move

Cuyahoga County Council members delivered a clear message to Executive Chris Ronayne and his administration this week: It’s time to accept that the Browns are moving their stadium to Brook Park and start planning accordingly.

Councilwoman Sunny Simon noted other studies that have purported to lay out the financial gains and losses of the move. The Browns, for example, commissioned a study showing a Brook Park stadium would benefit the entire region, bringing more visitors downtown. A City of Cleveland study, however, refuted those results, showing the move would hurt downtown.

Simon called for the county to do its own review to better understand how the shift might impact county finances, job creation or development — and whether the county should financially support the move.

This was a frustrating read. I agree it makes sense for the county to plan, but the browns, the city of Cleveland and two state agencies have prepared economic reports at this point.

What “spinoff” do they think is going to happen?? The entire point of this project is so Jimmy can capture as much dollars as possible. That’s the opposite of economic development.

Let's count the number of development projects that had great drawings for buildings never built -- just in greater Cleveland. I ran out of fingers and toes... Until there is something more concrete than HSG saying "it's a done deal," it's hard to justify spending county money to plan when the project isn't certain to happen.

And what is the county's responsibility -- transportation? Brook Park is going to be in charge of any zoning changes, HSG will be directing design and construction of the buildings.

Seems like the county is doing the right thing by waiting.

I support Chris Ronayne and holding his ground with not supporting this move. I am saddened that State officials have bought into something shiny and new that the taxpayers do not back. A new stadium is nothing new to what we already have. This includes any development that may follow but is not guaranteed.

HSG is only wanting this project as a benefit to themselves. None of this is for the region.
