Posted March 14Mar 14 Have you ever wondered about the basics of railroad technology? Why are rails shaped like that? How do rail crossings work? Since metal expands and contracts from temperature changes, why don't steel rails pull apart from temperature cycles? I found a wonderful YouTube channel on engineering with a playlist specifically about these railroad fundamentals. So many things that I have wondered about, all explained in a straightforward fashion. I'll include some of my favorites in this post, but the whole playlist is worth watching for those interested in the engineering of railroads. (Looking at you, @Ethan @Enginerd @enginerd12 @Geowizical @PlanCleveland) His content on other civil engineering concepts is also excellent.
