This seems to be a weekly occurrence... I get bored and take pictures, then post them here. This weekend it was (part of) downtown Cincy.

I'll spare you a lot of the 100 or so pictures. Here's what remains.

Parked on Main Street (mine's the second car back)

Yup, walk across it.

Hooray for fossil fuels!

I could smell that Friday's down there from the bridge.

Made it to the other side.

...and headed back. Ran out of memory here.

And finally, these days I don't walk away from Cincinnati without a pano or three. ----------->

I'd also like to point out how cool I thought it was to see people that actually looked like quasi-tourists walking around. I saw a number of people who were holding some sort of pamphlet-type of guide, and at least one group of people I can be sure were visitors, since I was asked for restaurant advice. (I don't know why I would look like I'd know anything, since I'm the one who is walking around and taking pictures of everything like a tourist.) Maybe it's the Ohio low self-esteem, but I did not expect to see tourist types, so I was pleasantly surprised. While I did seem to have certain streets all to myself (Broadway for a time was eerily devoid of all life, including traffic), seeing a fair amount of activity downtown on a Saturday made me happy. But I hadn't been here in a while, so maybe my expectations were too low.

excellent!

Cincy is lucky to have 2 skylines across from one another.

Nice...I liked the P&G "reflection" shot and the 2nd pano the best.

God, those old buildings at the foot of Main are falling into such disrepair.

I notice a lot of people downtown this weekend and I think it had to do with the Bengals v. Dallas game on Sunday. I think a lot of out-of-town Cowboy fans . . .

You continue to impress!

Great pics, thanks!

yay!

  • 2 years later...

This is my favorite pic, I love the density of 4th St!...and wow its suprising to see how much the areas around FS have transformed over the past couple of years (Government Square, Fountain Square, nearby businesses, removed skywalks, new facades).  Its great to see the before and remember where we once stood (a 70's abomination)...oh, and bump by the way!

as a Nyer who is not a huge fan of many American cities in general, Cincy is one pretty city!

Some great photos there, indeed! Great density! As UncleRando noted, it is interesting to see shots before some of the recent projects, like the McAlpins.

Whats up with this space behind the Fed Reserve building? This block has always bothered me.

Great tour.

I usually get asked about local stuff only when I am in an area I don't know.

I really liked this'n

I love the photographs. I'll agree with other comments about Cincinnati's density - and one reason why I say it reminds me a lot of New York when I enter the city!

Nice pics.  Overall, I tend to think Cincy has the most picturesque big-city downtown in the state.
