2 big gifts help jump-start public campaign

Cleveland Clinic leaders on Monday unveiled a new goal to raise $1.25 billion by 2010, while simultaneously jump-starting it with two gifts totaling $82 million.

wow, that's a lot of money between the 2 major hospital systems!  Maybe now they'll be able to afford building out to the sidewalks, instead of having to stop about 100 feet from the curb and fill in with expansive lawns...

^I heard that $1.1 billion will go towards retrofitting the campus so that it will look like a lifestyle center ;)

 

The most ambitious part of it all is that they set 2010 as the deadline.  That is very ambitious.  They have been very successful in the past and I don't doubt that they can do it again.  The best part about this is that the new funding will create a lot of jobs that are research-based. 

Fantastic!  I hear that jobs are important to economic development.
