ANDERSON TWP. - It will be a while before the planned $13.2 million Anderson Center takes shape, but its footprint and part of its foundation are quite discernible.

 

A large crew of construction workers is in the early stages of building the centerpiece of Anderson Township's new town square-style development on Five Mile Road, north of the Anderson Towne Center.

ANDERSON TWP. - The construction of the township's 2-mile-long hike/bike path from Five Mile Road and Clough Pike to Newtown Road near Turpin High School has reached a critical stage.

 

At the trail's midpoint, an 18-foot-high bridge that's more than 200 feet long is being built over Hunley Road near Royal Green Drive.

ANDERSON TWP. - Although efforts to bring a movie theater to Anderson Township are moving forward, they are not without change.

 

According to Jeff Jacobs, senior vice president of business development with JFP Group, the group building the movie theater and condominium project Anderson Towne Place, an agreement with an organization to run the movie theater is nearly in place.

Theater, condominium project held up, but anchor tenant denies any blame

ANDERSON TWP. - A $40.5 million project involving a 12-screen movie theater and 52 upscale condominiums has been on hold for months because an anchor tenant at Anderson Towne Center has yet to give its approval, township officials said.

 

The six-story complex would be built over what are now about 70 parking spaces next to a Kmart off Five Mile Road near Beechmont Avenue.

ANDERSON TWP. - An obstacle that has delayed a $40.5 million movie theater and condominium project might soon be removed.

 

The announcement of the Anderson Towne Place development occurred in May, but construction hasn't begun.

 

Anderson Township officials had believed Sears Holdings Corp., the parent company of Kmart, was responsible for the holdup. The development would be built over what are now about 70 parking spaces next to the Kmart in the Anderson Towne Center at Five Mile Road and Beechmont Avenue.

Uno's will join restaurant lineup

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP - The vacant space in the Anderson Towne Center formerly occupied by Michael G's restaurant will soon house an Uno's restaurant.

 

Todd and Becky Wilber, who own and operate the Uno's in West Chester's Union Centre area, will open the new Uno's franchise in late April or early May. Becky Wilber said they had been scouting another restaurant opportunity and heard about the available space.

 

"We really liked the trade area and are excited about it," she said, explaining that a Uno's was located in the old Beechmont Mall, and was successful there.

 

The new restaurant will offer an expanded menu, including steaks, seafood, sandwiches, pizza and pasta.

 

The Wilbers also own 11 Taco Bell restaurants in Greater Cincinnati.

New theater coming to Anderson

ANDERSON TWP. – After a series of delays, it appears the construction of the $25 million Anderson Towne Place movie theater and condominium project will begin this summer.

 

The project had been held up because revisions in plans and the need for the parent company of Kmart to approve plans that would affect the parking spaces for the Kmart store at the Anderson Towne Center at Five Mile Road and Beechmont Avenue.

 

Jeff Jacobs, vice president and chief operating officer for the project’s development firm, the JFP Group in Sycamore Township, said today that there’s been a lot of progress in negotiations between his firm and Sears Holdings Corp., Kmart’s parent company.

 

“We’ve got a verbal agreement with Kmart,” Jacobs said. “I would hope that construction can begin in June.”

 

The project is an important part of Anderson Township’s effort to create a town-center environmental in that area that would be the prime community gathering place. The township is building a complex near the Anderson Towne Place site that will include a township administration building in a park-like setting that will feature a man-made lake.

I saw a rendering of this at the Home and Garden show (condo portion only).  Anderson is also in dire need of a movie theatre, right now you have to drive all the way to Milford or NOTL to see a movie.

First-run movie complex coming to Anderson Twp.

ANDERSON TWP. - The 14-screen theater planned by Danbarry Cinemas in Anderson Township before the end of 2008 will be nothing like its four budget second-run movie theaters in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

 

The theater, which will be built north of the Anderson Towne Center at Beechmont Avenue and Five Mile Road, will be a state-of-art complex featuring first-run movies, said Danny Heilbrunn, president and co-owner of Danbarry Cinemas, which has four Dollar Saver theaters in the area.

ANDERSON TWP. - The 23-acre site of Anderson Township's future center of governmental, cultural and civic activities is crystallizing into form.

 

The $21.1 million complex includes the two-story Anderson Center building, a three-acre man-made lake, a park with walking trails and a Metro bus park-and-ride station that opened last year. Construction has progressed to the point that onlookers can visualize the completed site.

ANDERSON TWP. - The long-anticipated groundbreaking for the $35 million Anderson Towne Place project, which includes a 12-screen cinema, condominiums and a parking garage, will take place Friday.

 

Township officials have worked for years to attract a cinema. The project sits between Anderson Towne Center and Anderson Center, where the township is building an administration building with a performing arts auditorium.

ANDERSON TWP. – At a retreat seven years ago, Anderson Township officials began talking about the need for a focal point for their sprawling community.

 

At that time, the township’s most widely known locale was unattractive, traffic-congested Beechmont Avenue.

 

The vague ideas discussed at that retreat eventually solidified into plans that took more than four years to develop.

Anderson Township is about two months away from the completion of Anderson Center, just north of Anderson Towne Center.

 

The $21 million, 54,000-square-foot complex will include township offices, a performing arts center, an emergency operations center, a large community meeting room and space for the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

Also pictured is Anderson Center Station, a Metro park-and-ride facility located adjacent to the complex, and Uno's, which (allegedly) will open in the Towne Center in December.

New Anderson Center opening

ANDERSON TWP. – Until now, the administration offices of one of Hamilton County’s largest and most affluent townships shared space with a fire station built in 1962.

 

Anderson Township’s offices were cramped and didn’t provide the most efficient working environment. To avoid interrupting a meeting in progress in a conference room, employees sometimes had to walk outside to get from one office to another.

^I had a chance to tour the building before it was completed.  I believe it was early January, it is a mighty impressive buildings.  This adds so much needed character to the 5 Mile corridor.  It fits in perfectly with the Anderson Towne Center, the Metro Park and Ride and also the newly landscaped median on 5 Mile.  It helps establish a centralized location for the township, something that was severely missed.  The whole township is connected to the new Government Center and Anderson Towne Center thanks to the opening of the 5 Mile Trail.

Now all Anderson needs to do is incorporate and it would be a real city.

there is nothing wrong with Anderson Township, yes it has a special place in my heart :angel:, but don't rip it because it isn't a "city".  There are a couple extensively used Metro park and ride locations, a sidewalk network the connects the entire township (along with the city), a very well developed and maintained park system, it borders Cincinnati (Mt. Washington), downtown is no more than 10 minutes away, downtown is a 15-20 bike ride along Kellogg.  Several different types of housing stock to choose from.  Suburb, yes, but not the typical suburb.

The township form of government becomes ineffective and/or inefficient after a population grows past a certain extent.  There are townships that are doing their residents a disservice by remaining unincorporated with their bloated township egos.  Places like Green Twp, Colerain Twp, West Chester Twp all should become their own cities or annex in to an existing one so that they can effectively serve their residents.  Other areas like Anderson Twp, Delhi Twp, and Liberty Twp are all on the verge of reaching that same level.

^I was under the assumption that the residents vote on whether or not to incorporate? 

Yes they do vote to either approve or not approve a ballot measure.  That kind of a measure is typically put on the ballot by local leaders and politicians...every so often it is a grassroots movement by residents, but that is the exception rather than the norm.

This is a pretty cool building for Anderson Twp.!!    Beats Green's and Colrain's hands down.

 

Very suburban in design though, with a cool setting surrounding it!

This thread needs to be moved back to the current projects section as it is not yet complete.  The retail and government portions are done, but the theatres and residential sections have yet to start....

 

Settlement to get Anderson Towne Place project moving

The JFP Group and Cole + Russell Architects have reached an agreement in a dispute over the stalled Anderson Towne Place project that ended up in court.

 

The two companies didn't provide details about the settlement but said work on the mixed-use project will resume within 30 days, with completion scheduled for 2009.

 

"The JFP Group has worked with Cole + Russell on several successful projects and would gladly work with them again in the future if the opportunity arises," said Jeffrey Jacobs, senior vice president of JFP, in the release.

 

David Arends, president and CEO of downtown-based Cole + Russell, added in the release that the firm "is pleased to have been a part of such an exciting project."

 

The architectural group had filed a lawsuit against developer JFP, claiming it was owed almost $300,000 for work it completed prior to being terminated by JFP in April.

 

JFP, in a counterclaim, said Cole + Russell missed deadlines and "caused significant delays and increased the cost of the project dramatically."

 

Anderson Towne Place, in Anderson Township, will include theaters, retail space and condominiums, according to the release.

Anderson Twp. garage, cinema questioned

It’s been almost two years since construction stopped on a planned cinema and parking garage in Anderson Township and the development remains a concrete shell on the hillside.

 

Resident Bill Teater asked the trustees at last night’s meeting if there were any plans in place to finish the project, known as Anderson Towne Place, located between the Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road, and the Kmart store, 7528 Beechmont Ave.
