Posted May 11, 200619 yr port aransas (pop 3k) is on the gulf coast --- on intercoastal mustang island near corpus christi, texas. it's a big vacation area for the texans. nice variety of beaches, nice place to relax. heading over from corpus on the bridge across the intercoastal cue the 'jaws' theme...dun dun...dun dun... dundunduddundun...! acres of beach tchotchkes in those i have seen pics of this cool modernist coast guard station before big shed for the coast guard boats aransas pass was the confederate port for european supplies now its a busy working port for oil and tourism beach house block homebase for this stop was the historic tarpon inn it was beautiful out back great old pics in the hotel lobby fdr stayed here he signed his tarpon scale so does everyone, it's a tradition, they are all pinned up on the lobby wall looky what i found down by the ferry terminals -- what a shocker !!! port aransas has a massive and busy free ferry service off the island time to go, care to take a ferry ride? leaving the dock coming and going almost there already nice welcome debarking thru the snowbird trailer park town of aransas pass, texas of course i had to stop in this cool bakery finally, some stuff heading out of the coastal area creepy adams family style cute hurricane shuttered *** thats it for port a, it's big city neighbor corpus christi is up next ***
May 11, 200619 yr Great tour! My parents spent a few winters there and loved it, but Dad never brought back any pictures of the town.
